I had not eaten at a Pei Wei for some time, since moving to a location without one. Today I was near this one and was looking forward to the wonderful lettuce wraps I had discovered a few years back. This experience was disappointing.
First, the shredded chicken in the wrap included copious skin and fat. I fished much of it out. My companion's Bourbon Chicken also had so much fat in it that he was unable to eat it. He threw out about half the meal.
Second, there was not enough lettuce to wrap up anything. There were five pieces of lettuce, each less than a quarter of a single iceberg lettuce leaf. I was unable to make a wrap out of any of them.
Besides the above, the "sweet" tea had no sweetener at all. The Mandarin Orange green tea had no detectable orange flavor to it. And finally, the spring rolls--which were actually quite tasty--were tiny and absurdly over-priced.
UPDATE: After a conversation with Pei Wei customer service I feel confident that my comments on the shortcomings of this particular location will be investigated and acted upon. Because of that positive response I have removed some of my more negative comments and upgraded their review to 3 stars. This particular location had some serious quality problems, which are hopefully being corrected. I have always liked the food at Pei Wei, and will try other locations as I have the opportunity.
I want to thank Pei Wei customer service for being truly concerned about my experience, taking the time to talk to me and not just posting the typical Yelp...
Read moreCafeteria style ambiance and great food… do not make up for horribly ill-mannered staff who thrive off the, “I don’t get paid enough money to deal with you” mindset. Wouldn’t waste a tip here on anyone except for the cooks in the back. To put it short and sweet. Do you want to be treated like a human being? If so spend you money elsewhere. Michael is the manager and was not interested in making our order as we asked. He instead chose to argue about how it was made and not accept that we just ate there during mother’s day and it was made by the same cook and it was perfect! He put the order in wrong and he was the reason it was made incorrect! He not only upset my son, he even upset me when I was just picking it up and am saw it was wrong and he still was adamant about saying it how we make it! NOOOO you offer extra crispy tofu now and that’s how we wanted it on the pad Thai! Is that so hard!? And I’ve had it this way on Mother’s Day! I don’t care if you had one BIG order that Sunday! No one was even in the Restaurant! it was empty! How hard was it to make two meals outside that order!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Really! I’ll be sending a letter to PWD since you choose to argue with the customer and not take the order as asked! 10 years there and you are this...
Read moreWow....what a difference a little time makes. I originally left a 4 star review within the last couple of years. Went back today, so bad that before we even got all of our food we had to demand a refund and leave. How do you not have rice, when every single entree you serve, has rice. After multiple people that came after us got served before we did, we finally got someone's attention who claimed our food was taking so long, because we were waiting on rice. But each other guest had rice as well. Waited so long I finished my entire drink and when I went to get another, I realized our food(minus the rice) had just been sitting in the walkway everyone had to go through, uncovered, and getting cold, not to mention the employees standing there filling other orders over the top of it and coughing over it. When we had the nerve to ask about our food a 2nd time the employee had an attitude. I will never return to this trash establishment. Waiting to see if my refund goes through or if I'll have to deal...
