Just wanted to say, I came here because my favorite Thai restaurant in CL is sadly closed for permanent.
Now, upon walking into Thai Stellar I was hit with a pungent "old mildew" smell like the building is old. I brushed it off and was hoping the food would be as good as Thai Cottage.
I wanted fresh tofu spring rolls which I was told they only have the fried ones. So I instead chose the appetizer fried tofu with sweet sour sauce with the main course of green curry.
The appetizer came out at the same time as the main course which was stupid. The tofu was fried and bland. The sweet sour sauce was ehh, but nothing special. They didn't give me enough sauce for the amount of tofu sticks.
The rice to the green curry had gotten cold quickly and the green curry was lackluster in flavor. It tasted watered down and didn't have the flavor nor scent that I was looking for.
The staff in the dining room will stand and stare at you while you eat. I did not like that very much. The hostess and busser stood in the back of the restaurant and was looking at me eat. I know this because when I looked their way, they were looking at me. This made me very uncomfortable.
This is my last time here. The food isn't good nor tasty. It felt like I was eating at a low budget Chinese restaurant. Oh and I must mention that I came in at lunch time and the restaurant had a full lot, but it wasn't much...
Read moreGot take out from Thai Stellar last night. I was VERY CLEAR that I did not want the soup or entrees SPICY. The person who took my order said they had a spice level from 1 to 10. I asked for 0.5 and I made sure she understood what I meant. I also asked for VERY LITTLE veggies in the soup and that I wanted mostly broth. Either this person didn"t actually understand, didn't write it down so the kitchen staff could understand it, or no one cared to get it right. The soup was SO SPICY I could not eat it. My husband ate his because he was hungry, but It was too spicy for him too. My mouth was so much on fire, I couldn't taste anything else but spice, and couldn't eat the rest of my meal. I called and spoke to the manager, although she never introduced herself. I told her the situation, but she would not refund my money unless I drove back to the restaurant and returned the food. I resfued to do that, as It was late and I felt it inappropriate for me to have to use my gas and time to rectify their mistake. She even refused to give me a partial refund just for the soup, which I thought was a fair compromise. Not only was the soup SPICY, it was full of totallty RAW veggetables, another thing I was clear I didn't want. Their food isn't that good, customer service piss poor. ...
Read moreWe’ve been here a few times and thought I’d finally comment. Starting with the positives, the place is very clean, spacious, and the service can be great highly dependent on when you go. Going on the weekends after 5-8PM, you will be battling with Door Dashers while you’re dining in. Not a major deal, but if you’re in a hurry, try the non peak times.
A lot of their popular Thai dishes rival others in the area. We especially like their whole fried fish which is fresh and has a flavorful sauce. Their Penang curry is packed with protein which a lot of places don’t have. Their drunken noodles are also fantastic.
Speaking of fried fish, we wanted to try out another flavor from what we usually order. After receiving it, it was clear it was the wrong fish. The waitress insisted what she brought was the correct one.
Fine, maybe the appearance is similar but taste is different. Nope, was the same fish as we have gotten a couple of times already and the waitress doubled down that we got the correct order. Between the language barrier and how busy was the restaurant, and how busy the place was, it was clear they did not want to...
