Please call your local Humane Society before purchasing and ask them specifically about Petland puppies. The Humane Society cares about the health and welfare of dogs and what they have to say about Petland will shock and sadden you. If I had called first I would not have done business there.
They also bait and switched us with finance terms then I spent months reaching out to non-responsive customer service and the owner with no response. Some of these reviews are written by employees and their families to drown out negative reviews. The 5 star review below by Mailee Vega is actually the store manager posing as a shopper. The owner went along with it by thanking her for her review, boosting their rating. Everything I experienced about this business is unethical.
Please read this review to keep this from happening to you. We dealt with bait and switch, were given false and misleading information about how our credit would be affected when applying for credit with them, and after months of reaching out repeatedly to the multiple customer service avenues Petland said to use, I still haven’t gotten them to even respond. But the thing that may be worse than all these things is when I told the saleslady that I had to sleep on this decision, it’s a major purchase, she said to me and my little girl as she held that puppy, that all of their puppies sell really quickly and she can’t guarantee he would still be here tomorrow. This brought my daughter to tears because she was clearly in love with this little dog and it broke her heart to think of him going home with someone else. I couldn’t believe someone would be willing to make a child cry just to make a sale. I'm not exaggerating, it’s exactly what happened and without her showing any sign of remorse. When negotiating the terms of financing with the saleslady, I rejected the 12 months deferred interest, so she offered 12 months with no interest, then interest would begin to be applied at that point on the current balance, a much cheaper plan. But, they began charging interest right away. Petlands manager said I had to dispute this with their bank, not them. When I did, the bank said it would take up to 90 days, 88 days later they wrote to tell me they had removed me from some insurance plan. Nothing having anything to do with my complaint. Wasted time while they continued to charge me interest. Nothing was resolved by all this so I reached out to Petland again. I was now told I had to go through Customer Solutions. I did, no one ever responded, ever. After multiple efforts someone at the Petland store text me to make sure I had a good experience and when I told them about this, they said they would look into it. A little later they text me back saying great news, we got everything taken care of and you’re on the 12 month deferred interest plan… the plan I rejected the day of the sale. I went back again to the store to speak with the manager and was told now I had to go through their Petcare Solutions department. This was another dead end because I did and no one answered the phone so I had to leave a message. The recording said they get back to you in a day or two. Months later, still no response. Space won't allow me to share all of my repeated efforts. And still today, none have been responded to.
I went back to the manager again to say I needed to speak with the owner. She said that wasn’t an option, and gave me two email addresses, one to the store and one to… Customer Service. My experience has been dead end customer service centers that will wear you out until you give up, weary from complaining with no responses given. The owner to date has not responded to any of the efforts I’ve made through the channels Petland said I was to go through.
Why would I do business again with someone who treats people like this, would you?
I didn’t check with the Humane Society before going to Petland Webster, and I wish I had. Information learned from that call would've kept me from going any further, and I wouldn't have gone through what I did with a company like...
Read moreMy original review was posted the day I received my puppy. I would like to retract this response and share everyday that has followed since brining my pet home. Granted I love my pet, but I wish I never purchased through Petland. Now granted our original first day did not go as smoothly because our sales rep had messed up our loan paper work and our experience extended another hour and half. I didn’t hold this against her as it seemed like a honest mistake and the manager was rude to her when addressing the issue. Granted the manager on duty did this in FRONT of everyone. The sales rep clearly felt very bad and profusely apologize. Hence my original post I just let it go as mistakes do happen. The day our Webster was brought home he had a slight cough. We took him to the vet during the time frame they recommended. Also keep in mind I purchased the insurance they offer as well THE DAY I brought him. Thinking nothing of it the vet gave us from medicine and asked for payment. The sales lady who helped me stated that the first vet visit was FREE as long as I drove an HOUR away to this specific clinic. This was reenforced by more than one sales rep. Of course it wasn’t and that was just the start of this ridiculous mess. So I went to pull up my pets insurance but wasn’t able to prove it. I called multiple times and they had NO record of my name. Completely puzzled I went to my bank statements and insisted that I had the correct number as their company was on my statements. After an hour on the phone we come to find out that my name isn’t even on the statement!!!!!!! The lady who helped us did not clear the system before inputting our information so my card information was under a completely different name. So I cancelled this insurance, went to Petland and informed them of what happened. In the effort to communicate so it didn’t happen to someone else. It took two weeks for my money to be returned. After receiving my refund I proceed to purchase a different pet insurance to have before my pets next appointment. We attended his second appointment where I address his cough again. They recommend doing X-rays since it hasn’t stopped. I once again went to pull up my insurance and was told by the NEW insurance company that this cough was preexisting so they WONT cover it. From the insurance point of view all they see is I signed up for insurance AFTER the original first appointment. So now after following all the steps as they recommended I am stuck with my pets medical bills. Now I am in communication with this solutions company to submit a claim. After our second appointment I did drive back to the Webster Petland location to speak to a manager. Keep in mind I called their headquarters since the location wasn’t picking up and they informed me that no matter the time of the week a manager should always be on duty. Of course this isn’t accurate as I arrived and there was no manager. So I communicated to the lady there that I wanted to request that the manager of the Webster location send written proof that this issue has been because of their POOR training. You cannot blame the employees for a lacking of training. So now this is a waiting game with both Webster Petland and Pet Solutions. I will be posting and update so be in...
Read more3 years later Just got back from the vet. My cockapoo has IVDD which is a genetic disease. Poor Bear can possibly live a life of pain, get better, or have to be euthanized. In 3 weeks it will be my daughters 11th birthday. If he hasn't gotten better they recommend surgery or to be put down if it's not possible ... in 3 weeks. Thanks Petland!
Our beloved dog has gotten so bad that he can't feel his back legs, he won't eat or drink, he can't control his bladder or bowels. The light from his eyes are gone. He is alive but not living. He has no soul in his body. Monday we have to put him down. 2 weeks from my daughters 11th birthday.
When you go here keep the mentality of it being like a car sales place (probably working commission) . We were told about the 10 year store credit if our dog should die but in fact that credit lowers by a lot by years, even if it a genetic issue. The seller did not tell us any of this but made it seem like the warranty was for life. The 250 dollar welcome home package should be opt out of since you can get it cheaper just buying the products anywhere else. Pretty much they walk you around and try and sell as much as they can. The 150 dollar package to buy vitamins is great but my pup won't eat any of it. Also keep in mind that the 150 contract means you have to buy products every 90 days or you dont qualify. The food is ok but not great. We bought wet food even though i never saw them eat that food and bought things they said they use but never saw them use ( I was trying to keep as close to the diet). Keep in mind if you get a pup you have to go to a vet within 4 days to qualify for the contract. We unfortunately bought ours when it was the weekend of 4th of July and was told just to do what we can. The lady was nice but we realized they will push a dog on you even if it doesn't seem like the right fit. Also if you do sign up and they are part of the AKC you will pay another 200+ to get it registered to you. We were never told about this. Overall we went in looking for a dog. Originally it was 5k but after taxes, welcome home kit, vet kit, akc kit, ect, it was well over 7.5k for a cockapoo. We always read the contract but this time kind of conned by...
