We were recently hosting a bridal shower for my daughter who wanted to have a BBQ menu. I wasn’t sure BBQ food would fit the bill since the venue was semi-formal. After calling and reviewing menus of some local bbq places and not finding what I needed, I felt anxious and didn’t know where to turn. Then a friend mentioned a wedding that she attended that had used Dee Jay’s to cater their event. She said the food was delicious and recommended it highly. I called Dee Jay’s and spoke with the caterer, Nicole. She was so pleasant, responsive and accommodating and made wonderful suggestions! She put me at ease. I decided upon Kona crusted prime pork and grilled chicken with BBQ sauce (mmmm!) on the side. Both entrees were delicious! The pork melted in your mouth while the chicken was tasty and tender. We followed with wonderful red-skinned mashed potatoes and green beans and a unique jalapeno cornbread meant to be eaten with a spoon. FANTASTIC! People raved. They went back for seconds and even thirds. People told me it was the best shower that they’ve attended. Nicole and Dee Jay’s MADE the whole shower! The price was reasonable and we certainly had an ample amount of delicious food to enjoy. I highly recommend Dee Jay’s and Nicole for catering for any event you are planning. Dee Jay’s also has all of what you’d consider more traditional BBQ food. Whatever your event, I am sure Nicole is able to design a delicious menu that meets your needs. I will be calling Dee Jay’s for future events! ….and I’m looking forward to visiting one of their restaurants! (Addendum...I initially called the Collier restaurant who put me in touch with Nicole for the...
Read moreHave been here many times in the past. Excellent food. However, I do not know what happened this last time (Saturday 10/12/24 during the 3 PM hour.) My spouse hasCeliac disease and this was explained to our server and the importance of avoiding cross-contamination. The food was even ordered off the “Gluten-Free menu.” The Sidewinder fries were listed on this menu so with the server not saying anything after we ordered we assumed these fries were either baked or cooked in a dedicated fryer. Our food comes out and my spouse takes one bite of the fries and then the manager comes over and explains they did not have a dedicated fryer. Just from that one bite my spouse quickly developed fatigue, nausea, and severe bloating. They could not eat any of the rest of their food. The manager did remove their meal from the bill which was appreciated. However, I do not know if it was this particular server or if there is just a general lack of education/training on such medical issues at this place. And also I have never been to a restaurant that includes fries in the gluten-free menu if they are fried in the same oil with gluten containing foods. BE CAREFUL if you have Celiac and get the manager involved from the start if you wish...
Read moreI hadn’t been here in a while but remembered they always had great salads. I ordered grilled chicken salads for myself and night shift coworkers. The app wasn’t working correctly so I called in and the young lady I spoke with didn’t realize that they had grilled chicken salads. I asked for fries on the side and she said they don’t have fries. They only have thick seasoned curly fries. I said that was ok and asked for 2 orders. I also wanted extra egg and extra cheese on one salad. Asked for balsamic and ranch dressing. When I get to work and we finally get our dinner break we didn’t have any utensils, napkins or dressings. There was no egg or cheese let alone extra on the one salad. One salad had 2 big chunks of white, unseasoned and not grilled chicken and the other had one big chunk. The chicken wasn’t pink but definitely not grilled and it had a weird flavor and odd texture. We spent over $40 for 2 salads that we couldn’t even eat. When I called and asked to speak to a manager or supervisor about getting replacements I was asked to wait and then hung up on. This place always had awesome salads, but I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon. Spending that much money on food that is totally...
