We heard about Sunny Street on Facebook through their Kids Dino-Mite event. My daughter loves dinosaurs and pancakes so we made the drive to check it out. Our group had 2 adults and 2 children, ages 4 and 2. Most tables were empty but it took 5 mins before we were even greeted. The facebook event said there were kids games but the only thing I saw was a jar full of dinosaurs (guess the number of dinosaurs, 1 winner type). Not really something that kids under 5 would get into. We would have loved a dinosaur theme game/toy for the kids to play at our table. Service was much slower than you'd expect at a cafe. 40 mins after we arrived, we asked for some crackers to give our 2 yr old since food still had not arrived. We were told they don't have crackers. The free dino pancakes (with a paid adult entree) were good. We ordered sausage and bacon for the kids but never got them. The iced coffee and chicken wrap were both pretty tasty. While I won't make the drive again for their kids events, I might stop in for an adult lunch if I'm in the area and don't mind the wait.

They have grits, sort of.... Some of the family have posted that they really liked this place so we thought we would try it. We were seated quickly when we arrived around 7:45 on a Sunday but the being impressed ended there. We were asked by two different waitress what we wanted to drink which is not bad but makes you wonder if they are organised. Following that we made our order and I asked for my eggs over easy and ON TOP of my grits. Our waitress had no idea what I was talking about even though the grits are "southern style." It's common in the South to let the egg yolk run down through the grits. She discussed it with the cook and the look on his face says he'd never heard of that either. The French toast is made with some type of cinnamon bread which may or may not be a bonus. Over all, the food quality was mediocre at best and I was not really impressed with the service.

Overall, it was a nice time. The place is in a strip mall, so the atmosphere is just OK. A little outdated diner feel, so don't expect an upscale brunch experience... it's just a cute little place. The menu has a lot of offerings. The chicken and waffles and cinnamon roll pancakes are their awesome signature offerings. I did expect a cream cheese glaze or something on the pancakes because they were "cinnamon roll," but they were basically just pancakes with a cinnamon swirl. There was no icing, just cinnamon butter, but it was still pretty good. There are a few "lite bites" if you want to eat healthy, eggs Benedict, tex mex, omelets, pancakes, waffles, and CHICKEN AND WAFFLES... one of my faves. It did not disappoint.

**Previously 2 Star - Must have been an off day. Went here based on the recommendation of family as well as the lines that we've seen outside. We got there around 7:15 am and were one of about 5-6 tables. While we were waiting for our food, our server was going on to one of the cooks that something was, "just what you need for your diabetes." Now, I'm betting it was out of concern, but still not something that needs to be done on the floor. We got our meal and my wife ordered the "fresh fruit." The grapes had not been washed and the fruit itself was very dry. Seeing that, my wife asked the server if she could just have another side since she didn't want the fruit anymore. The server picked up the fruit, told the line cooks and brought another cup of fruit. We asked for creamer at least four times, each time the server did not bring it, we asked again. Finally the server refilled a drink for another table and we asked for the third time for cream, she nodded her head and brought the refill for the other table, asked us if we were ok and we asked for cream again. She brought the cream and the bill. It was the wrong bill, and was actually more expensive than what was supposed to be our bill. Our server then left the floor and I asked Holly (another server) for the correct bill. Holly apologized and printed ours. Our server came back and said, "She gave you the right bill?" No apology, nothing. The saving grace here was that my Wildberry Crumble Pancake was very good and Holly was super pleasant. I was a server and usually give them the benefit of the doubt, but when we left there were still only about 6 tables sat and they were not busy. Not once did we get any type of apology from our server for the way anything was handled. We may go back again just to try since the reviews seem amazing, but we didn't have the same experience most everyone else here did.

Edit: I gave another star as the owner reached out to make things right. They obviously care for...

Terrible Experience at Sunny Street Cafe: Rude Bartender and Poor Service

I recently visited sunny st cafe for breakfast and was utterly disappointed by the appalling service I received from the bartender. From the moment I sat down at the bar, it was clear that this experience would be nothing short of a nightmare.

To begin with, the bartender displayed a shocking lack of knowledge by not even being aware of the legal drinking age, insisting that the legal drinking year was 2002. This level of incompetence is unacceptable in any establishment, let alone a supposedly reputable breakfast restaurant.

Not only was the bartender clueless, but their attitude was downright rude and confrontational. Instead of greeting me with a smile or a welcoming gesture, they immediately adopted a hostile demeanor that made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.

Throughout my entire visit, the bartender Seemed more interested in arguing with me than providing decent service.

In conclusion, my experience at sunny st cafe was nothing short of a disaster. The combination of a bartender who doesn't know the legal drinking age, poor service, rude behavior from the start, and a confrontational attitude made for a breakfast that I would rather forget. I strongly advise against visiting this establishment if you value good service and basic...
