On Saturday, April 11th, I went into the Longhorn in Weslaco, Texas to have dinner over a business arrangement. In the beginning, we had an amazing waitress (Lauren) that serviced us well and promptly throughout the evening. Towards the end of our visit, our waitress came over for closing conversation as we finished our drinks and paid the bill. Meanwhile, a gentleman absurdly approached our table and stated "Lauren, you need to come with me now" - she then looked at the gentlemen and reluctantly asked for the gentleman to not speak to her like that in front of her customers. At that point, I felt so painfully awkward that I decided to tell the man he didn't need to be so rude and I requested there should be a manager involved at this point. Come to find out - this man (who never formally introduced himself) IS THE MANAGER. Despite our obvious concerns, our discomfort was still not acknowledged whatsoever and we were blatantly told by the manager "we are now closed". Apparently the restaurant had closed at 10:00 PM (little did we know) and the time was currently telling 10:15 PM. Not ONE person alluded to the fact that we were intruding so heavily - in fact, we felt the exact opposite based on the service Lauren was giving us as we finished up. The manager then figuratively dragged our server back to the kitchen by her ear like a small child while we were left in utter shock. Unsure of what to do, we went to the Hostess stand to ask the name of the Manager to file a complaint to his higher authority. The panicked hostess stated she was unaware of her manager's name because he apparently just started working there. After digging deeper, we discovered his name was possibly Joel and we were given "corporates number". I decided to rotate towards the bar for additional information because I felt rather unsatisfied with the hostess's uncertainty. The only person remaining at the bar was another employee named Christopher. I approached him with the same questions I posed to the hostess stand - "what is your manager's name?". Surprisingly, I was still faced with the same resistance that I encountered at the hostess stand. Frustrated beyond belief I then began outwardly venting to Christopher how ridiculous this entire situation had become. Defeated and demoralized I made my way out of the restaurant and distinctly heard Christopher mumble "little b**tch". At this point, for the remainder of the night I began researching contacts amongst Longhorn corporate offices and headquarters. I was able to speak to someone at headquarters that forwarded my situation to the district that the Weslaco Longhorn resided. Ron (the other night time manager) promptly reached out to me when he received the alarming news. Ron assured me that Angel (General Manager) would reach out to me within 24 hours. It has now been 7 days since I last heard from anyone at Longhorn. I have been reluctant to write this review so I didn't have to waste 30-45 minutes of time - but it appears I have been left no...
Read moreAn iconic steakhouse that is now a part of a tapestry of Texas tradition, Longhorn offers some of the best tasting steaks with an incredibly attentive staff and management that understands the importance of providing a comfortable eating experience and professional service.
While not every location can boast the rating that I am giving here, Weslaco Longhorn Steakhouse has proven to go above and beyond simply serving the food you ordered. Thanks to our waiter from a previous dining-in experience (We remember his name to be Arno, Arnold, or something to that effect) our drinks were never empty, our food was served hot and to perfect doneness (I ordered the Prime Rib with a divine jus) and we were even provided a complimentary dessert to celebrate me and my wife's 2-year anniversary. It's this extra attention to detail that really makes us want to come back, and so I did.
I also have to mention that on coming back for a take-out order, even half an hour from closing, my order was handled impeccably. Thanks to Edward (a member of the bar staff that was working when I got there) my pickup order was addressed immediately. Upon presenting him with the payment, I had mentioned to him that the service we receive at this location is very good compared to others. Edward took the initiative to relay that information to his manager Mario, whom was eager and ready to hear my feedback, as well as my suggestions on how to improve service here in Weslaco compared to other locations.
Thanks to waiting/kitchen/service staff like Arno and Edward, who are so attentive and eager to provide that experience, and on-the-ball implementation of those policies like what Mario has provided, I can see Weslaco's Longhorn Steakhouse being my choice for Prime Rib and beef in the future. You all have earned yourself a...
Read moreMy family and I went for lunch today. Our waiter “Alejandro” took our order and came back with bread & butter but forgot to give us our utensils. I saw another waiter “Ricardo” next to us and said “excuse me sir” and he pretended not to hear me and continued to walk right by my family. That same waiter “Ricardo” who was attending the table next to us came back and I tried again to get his attention “excuse me sir, could we have some utensils please?” He turned around and said “your waiter will be right back.” I was shocked at his response but didn’t let it bother me. We patiently waited for our waiter, Alejandro to return but saw Ricardo return to the table next to us, and hand utensils to his customer. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? We sat there in disbelief. I literally asked Ricardo for utensils, didn’t bother to help us, but he went ahead and got utensils for his table that was 3 feet away from us. Why couldn’t Ricardo grab an extra set of utensils to give to my family and I? This man is definitely not a team player and plain out rude! Our waiter Alejandro was amazing so we left him a good tip for being professional and kind, something Mr. Ricardo lacks. We are frequent visitors of Longhorns steakhouse, so I will say this, if my family and I ever get Ricardo as a waiter I will request another server. I hope this review gets back to him so he can learn the importance of the word TEAM, where you help your teammates not not just think of yourself. Thank you Alejandro for serving my family & may God...
