May 2024 Update I'm hesitant to try this location again. While the name has changed from Pomodoro Pizza to Mama B's, I'm unsure if anything else has changed for the better. I'm hoping for a positive experience.
2023 Review-Disappointment Pizza!
Updated The owner’s response heavily implies I’m lying or mistaken. However, I do not lie; I only speak my truth. Questioning my integrity regarding when I posted, where I ordered, and what I experienced is not a good way to build trust and loyalty.
Regarding my order: I wrote my review well after the order. I ordered on January 6, 2023 and picked up the food around 5:45 PM. My wife paid for the meal, so the payment was in her name. I went to the Wesley Chapel location, near the Sam's club. I took pictures of the menu and the pizzas. I was looking forward to writing a great review of how much I loved the pizza. Had it been good, I would have piled on the praise.
Regarding reviews: Your staff asked me where I heard of your location. I said the Google Maps showed you with a high rating. To which she said management was working to get the number up from 4.3. She told me management was asking for five star reviews and had been working on it for a while. She then asked for my review. I believe you when you state that YOU do not ask for 5-star reviews. However, you may want to talk with your STAFF; I don't think they heard your message.
Regarding freshness: I never said your food wasn't fresh, I said that it was flavorless and bland. Fresh can still be dull.
Regarding my review: I was so disappointed, and used analogies to express my opinions. Harsh or not, it's what I felt. A business should listen to the complaints and learn how to improve; not deny and accuse the customer of being mistaken. These are opportunities to change a customer's mind by making corrections in staff training, improvements in product and in execution.
Please understand that I was excited to try a new place. I felt misled by the reviews and the staff bragging about the Google rating going up recently. Perhaps my experience was a one-off. I don't think so. I'm not looking for anything; just sharing my experience. It's up to others to decide for themselves. Maybe they will disagree with me and that's fine. But I will not be coming back for seconds.
Original post:
After all the five star reviews, I thought I was in for a treat. The server at the restaurant informed me that Management has been actively asking people for their five star reviews. (Yes, she was bragging about it.) This is clearly working for them. What isn't working for me is the pizza.
I ordered a small cheese and large meat lovers. They appeared good when I picked up the order. When I got home, I reheated the pizza in the conventional oven at 320 for a few minutes.
When I went to take a bite, however, I was dismayed. Using a fork, I tried a piece. The crust was soggy. The wet bread texture was gross. Further into the slice the crust was dry and flavorless. The pizza sauce was more like tomato sauce from a can; yet somehow with less flavor. There was no spice. The meats were off as well. I couldn't put my finger on what, though; just bland and bad tasting.
In my opinion, the pizza was just BAD. It was BASIC with nothing outstanding or unique. A frozen pizza from the store would have been better. It compares worse to bad school cafeteria pizza. I should have gone somewhere else.
We tried to doctor up the pizza with our own seasoning without success. It was late, we were very hungry, so we stomached what we could and threw the leftovers in the trash....

I especially love the crust, which is not my norm. I usually don't eat the end pieces on pizza bc it's not satisfying enough to justify the calories. LOL. However, Mama B's crust is very good and you can tell it's freshly hand-tossed. Did not waste a crumb from this pizza. My roommate is picky about pizza, always trying new pizza places, only to be disappointed every time. But he even says this was the best he's had in yrs.
Thank you Mama B's for an awesome pizza! I only hope I will be consistently pleased as I plan to make this my Go-To pizza place!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I don’t like leaving bad reviews and I’m sorry to do it ta new business, but I’m tired of trying to find a pizza place in Wesley Chapel that doesn’t disappoint. Mama B’s Pizzeria didn’t do it for us. My XL pizza with 2-toppings cost over $27. It looked good when opening the box, however, the first bite revealed the crust was burnt. See the pics as proof. The kind gentleman at the restaurant was very apologetic & offered to make a new one, but I declined as I was already at home watching NFL in Dade City. He ended up issuing a refund, so I give 5 stars for customer service.
We’ve had burnt crust from New York New York Pizza, Fratelli’s, Pizza Mania & 900 Degrees. To all the pizza restaurants in WC—-please clean your ovens regularly & stop burning the crust! The only place we can get unburned pizza is at Marco’s because they use a conveyor belt which seems to cook perfect pizzas EVERY TIME. I’m not saying they have the best pizza, but they don’t burn it. Not sure why you need those big fancy ovens anyway! I gave 2 stars & plan to give Mama B’s another try because I love the ambiance of the cafe-like pizzeria. The menu looks awesome, so we will try the pasta...
