Hankerson's Country Oven Inc. — Restaurant in West Bend

If I were writing this review 10 + years ago, I would have given this place 5 stars. Sadly today I can only give 1 star. Yesterday I bought 3 dozen cookies, 2 dozen for my grandkids and 1 dozen for my husband. I don't know what happened, but we used to love the cookies and doughnuts. And now today they are horrible, can't even get them to your mouth without falling apart and crumbling. Peanutbutter chocolate chips same thing plus don't have peanutbutter taste. I also want to agree with other customers on it's 2020, get credit card use.

Also I agree with customers on please have workers wear masks and gloves. The workers touch dirty money, and what ever else they touch, then touch the bakery. I have had 3 family members who have had COVID-19 it's not good. I wear my mask to protect others. Excellent bakery Twice now the service person at the bakery gave me a very hard time, same person Normally I don’t go to bakery but my wife is disabled now so I do the shopping and try to get what she wants Last summer she wanted 12 cookies for an event at our house I went in and this person just said “how many” I said 12 and she got out a box When I said I wanted some cookies she got angry and said she thought I wanted donuts so she didn’t need the box Today my wife wanted 12 Xmas cookies to send to our daughters I asked for 3 iced sugar cookies and she said they didn’t have any After her getting angry again at me it finally became evident that they had iced sugar cookies with decorations just not plain iced sugar cookies Again angry at me because I didn’t realize the cookies in the case were what I wanted And it just kept on going on like that Please have someone else there when I...

What a huge disappointment! Today, the lady (in the white shirt, not the darker color shirt) clearly did not want to be there. She was very unpleasant and gave me a nasty look when I asked her if they had any cheese filled horns. I realize that with masks on it can be difficult to hear people at times, but the nasty look was not appreciated. Simply say no if you don't have an item. As if that wasn't bad enough, the bread that we bought was still frozen in the middle and tasted terrible. We make the drive to West Bend specifically to get the bread, so we wasted a trip. Also, we bought a few different types of donuts and the glazed pretzel and crullers both tasted so lemony it was disgusting.
