good Greek food place, bit on the pricey side for what you get!
to start out, i really liked the food for the most part. i had their traditional gyro, and their traditional bowl, probably their most popular dishes. i am a big guy and i eat a lot, but those two dishes were a lot for me that night.
i paid 12.50 for the gyro and 13.50 for each of the bowls, (one for me, one for my girlfriend) and tipped 20 percent, (8.75 or something) totalling is around 47 dollars. a bit pricier than i was hoping, but it was still good.
the bowl comes with lemon chicken, seasoned rice, cucumber, onion, tomatoes, classic tzatziki sauce and feta cheese.
the things i liked about the bowl: lots of rice and chicken, very filling. also lots of feta, if you're a feta cheese lover. the tzatziki sauce was very thick and tasted authentic. overall ok taste.
things i disliked about the bowl: the rice was very harshly seasoned, making it super flavorful and almost overpowering. the lemon chicken was extremely sour, and didn't really have any other flavors. if you like sour candy, you would like the chicken here.
the traditional gyro was less disappointing than the bowl, thankfully. it comes with lamb and beef, vegetables, fries, tzatziki sauce, and seasoning.
things i liked: the meat had a good flavor that wasn't overpowering like some lamb I've tried. all of the flavors blended very well and i was happy at the end of my meal.
things i disliked about the gyro: the pita was more like a tortilla than a pita. it was also pretty undercooked, making for a chewier, undercooked style pita, rather than the fluffy pillow pita's most people are used to.
the vibe in the store was good, they played more pop music than i was hoping, and it was a little loud, kind of taking you away from the authentic "Santorini Greece" feeling that was painted all over the walls and the food. the place was cool, could have been a bit more authentic though. i liked the seats, maybe could have used some cuter night lighting, but overall i was pleased. good greek place for those who absolutely need greek food near them, but if i were you and i had more time, i would go somewhere more authentic where i would pay less, like the gyro house or spitz, both in...
Read moreI've had a lot of Greek food as of late, mostly from people inviting me to try their favorite places. While many are good, Santorinis was the first Greek restaurant that I've been invited to that actually blew me away! I left 100% happy and satisfied.
Before I get to the food, I noticed how clean and organized the restaurant and the serving area was. The staff (although new and not quite "professionals" yet) were very nice, helpful, and worked hard to get our very large order done. My group and I came in and ordered 6 gyros, an order of every loaded fries option (6 different options),two butter cakes, 9 Greek donuts, and 2 shakes. Needless to say, the staff had their hands full. They got it all done in good time, it was all correct, and to top things off, Mr. Santorini himself was there working as well! He even made it a point to bring out the desserts at a later time to give us time to eat.
I ordered a steak gyro. You get to choose all your toppings and sauces, so I made it exactly how I wanted it. The steak was so taste and tender, I did not expect it to be such quality meat, but it was top-tier! Each order of loaded fries all tasted wonderful and they were fun to eat and try each one. The butter cakes came with ice cream and both tasted fantastic. The donuts came with powered sugar and honey and were also just so good, and the rose-water shakes were the perfect thing to finish off the meal.
I recommend this place to any fan of Greek food and newcomers! Just be warned; once you've eaten here, your standards for Greek food will be...
Read moreUpdated review to add... I finally decided to try this place again. Every single one of the fruits and vegetables, except for the majority of the red onions, was soggy, rotten, dry, old, or slimy. I was frozen on deciding which vegetable to poison myself with (which vegetables is the whole reason to eat here) and picked the onion, and the spinach. It was edible once I picked out the rotten bits. This is right after they opened, unacceptable for a restaurant. I had half a meal because there was no fresh food to pick from. The person I went with chose to eat the rotten vegetables and felt sick for a while after.
The negative: This place is not family friendly. Once I sat down to eat the (extremely loud)music was blasting the F-bomb freely, I ate as fast as I could to get out of that nasty atmosphere. I will no longer be taking my family here. Quick tip, in the playlists you select for your store to play (on any music site) it will tell you beside each song if it's explicit or not. Or choose a radio-edit playlist--which was playing a different time I was there. It was a pretty bad oversite for a restaurant. The positive: I like this Santorini's better than the one in Farmington, the building looks amazing and the way you order is easier and more streamlined. You get your food quickly. Food quality/freshness needs a little work but the options for people with dietary restrictions well make up for it. So far the staff is great and...
