Great Wall Kitchen — Restaurant in West Chester Township

We used the new online ordering system and it was simple and easy to place an order. The wait was longer than quoted when picking up. We ordered:

Crab Rangoon - these were made well and had the right ratio of filling to wrapper - very yummy. These are still my favorite! (5/5 🌟)

Steam fried dumplings - these had a great flavor and I would order again. (4.5/5 🌟)

Shrimp fried rice - this was also prepared well and adding extra shrimp is cheap! Definitely ordering this again. (4.5/5 🌟)

Chicken Mei Fun - this was my first time ordering this dish and it was prepared well. I am not sure of the expected flavor profile but seems to need a little bit more seasoning/flavor overall. (2.5/5 🌟)

Updated from a new visit -

🍊 🐔 - pretty good however the chicken-to-breading ratio is off. Too much breading. (3/5 🌟)

🍤 lo mein - our kids like this and rated it really yummy. (4/5 🌟)

Chicken wings - these were prepared well but were mildly seasoned. These need more 🧂...

So…a little context for this review. This used to be our go-to Chinese restaurant- like after so much searching for a good spot we never considered going anywhere else again. Food was always cooked perfect, ingredients were of good, high quality, orders were always ready on time and from a kind, smiling employee. Something has drastically changed because we received the exact opposite of the above this evening and are so disappointed. Food was nearly inedible, ingredients had a weird taste that I don’t even know how to describe. Parts of the order were incorrect or missing altogether. My husband, who picked the order up had to wait 20-30 minutes because it wasn’t ready and he said both employees were on their phone and hardly acknowledged him. He said the nice lady that we are used to seeing wasn’t there and that maybe it’s under new ownership- I don’t know. All I know is we will likely not return. Super disappointing after spending so much...

So disappointed. We have been customers of Great Wall for years. We ordered Dumplings, Sesame Beef, Hunan Beef, Chicken fried rice, Mongolian Beef and Crispy Chicken and received a complimentary order of Pad Thai. Nothing in the entire order had any flavor. The Crispy Chicken and Sesame beef were soggy and the meat was tough. The Sesame beef was sweet but had no sesame taste at all. The other 2 beef orders were bland and the meat was tough. The dumplings were a good size but tasted like mildly salted ground meat. The Pad Thai had no flavor at all and even the fried rice was salty but had no flavor. So sad. Not sure we will go back. The cooks need to be tasting their food before sending it to their customers. Maybe will try again in a couple of months. Hoping this is just new opening problems that will...
