Absolutely Disappointed. I was told by a local to go here and get a cheese steak. I saw the reviews and was excited to try it. Well, I was seriously mislead. This place doesn't know the first thing about making a cheese steak and in the process it ruined what could have been a great roll.
I ordered a 12" Cheese Steak with Whiz & Onions. The wait time was short & the lady behind the counter was very sweet and nice. Saw that I wanted to eat it there and went out of her way to get me a plate and napkins. From grille (finished) to my mouth was about 2 min. I opened the steak to reveal that the roll (which appeared to be a good quality roll) was already soggy. I opened the roll and to my dismay saw that the steak was way over chopped and there were way to many onions (like they were trying to compensate for not having enough steak in it). The cheese whiz on the other hand didn't look like cheese but cheesy grease. It appeared as if the guy put the cheese whiz on the grille and mixed it in with the steak & onions. Because of this the entire sandwich was just a mushy, greasy mess (probably why the roll got soggy so fast). So, I began to eat it and it tasted overwhelming like fried onions and grease with a little bit of steak and cheese. I've had cheese steaks from all over the U.S. (and I even lived in Philly for quite some time) and this was absolutely the worse one ever and was way over priced at almost $10. This makes buying a steak at Pat's in Philly look cheap at $11. You really need to go back to the drawing board on this one. And to think this was a place very close to Philly.
On a Positive note: I loved the lady behind the counter. She was awesome. And the hoagies they were making (on the same roll) looked good. If there's a next time I might just get a hoagie.
I really hope you turn this around. I really like supporting...
Read moreWhere do I begin?! My husband, Rob, and I drove all the way from Delaware (4 babies in tow) to West Chester for the first time about 3 weeks ago just to check out Lorenzo's cheesesteaks. Rob had heard about them through a FB hoagie lovers group and we decided to give them a try. Boy are we grateful we did!! The food here is AMAZING, hence our 4 return visits here in the last 3 weeks! The only thing better than their cheesesteaks is their impeccable service...kind, friendly, respectful and fast! The people who work at Lorenzo's genuinely care about their customers and their experience both before and after they order. They go above and beyond to make people feel welcome and appreciated and they are so compassionate too! In fact, last week when we were there 2 of our little ones were having meltdowns in the car while waiting and, right away, they offered my husband 2 packs of chocolate chip cookies to give the kids...their FAVORITES. As we drove away we realized they had already eaten them all and they were soooo good that we decided to turn around and go back for more before heading toward home. As my husband ran back in to get more, they instantly recognized him and...get this...GAVE HIM A FEW PACKS FOR FREE!!! The kids instantly calmed down and went sound asleep on the ride home... A much appreciated thing for us tired parents, for sure!
As you can see, I can't possibly say enough good things about Lorenzo's and it's staff and food..in fact, I need to end this because we are about to load up right now to head there and pick up our order! Thank you, Lorenzo's, for helping us make these beautiful family memories and for the delicious food and incredible service. The Hartshorns...
Read moreLorzenos in West Chester is in a different stratosphere when it comes to all other Italian hoagies. I’m ashamed this is my first time here.
Everyone knows it all starts with the roll. ✅ How about the meats? This is probably my favorite overall part. Perfectly thin sliced. I got the old school Italian, which they advertise as their most famous. I can see why. Thin sliced ham, hot cappicola, genoa salami and these ultra thin slices of Procuitto De Parma. Normally I would complain about lack of oil and vinegar, I prefer mine pretty wet, but the flavor of the meat here was on point. Didn’t need mayo or extras, just enjoy the flavor.
Next, I dont know what brand of sharp provolone they use, but it really hits. It’s not over powering, but it comes through. And the way they slice that, also very thin, you almost get these fall apart pieces that come through at different bites. I prefer that over one large piece of cheese.
Veggies were fresh. They asked if I wanted lettuce, tomato, onion, of course. But also pickles and peppers. Hard pass on pickles on an Italian hoagie, but I got both hot and sweet peppers. Everything compliments each other so well, it’s honestly the perfect sandwich.
Added a photo of the combo. I think it was like $11 something for their lunch special old school italian (10 inch), bag of chip and a drink.
Hands down the best hoagie in the Philadelphia area. Absolutely in the running for best sandwich I’ve had globally, and we get around. 100% recommend, I can’t wait to go back. Curious to try the cheesesteak, but this will probably be my go to. Hats off...
