I was eagerly anticipating trying out this West Coast-inspired cafe, especially after hearing glowing reviews from some customers at the cafe where I work. However, my visit left me with mixed feelings. While the cafe exuded a spa-like ambiance, with fragrances reminiscent of Bath and Body Works, I found myself missing the familiar scent of coffee or food that I associate with cafes, rather than being surrounded by an array of candles. The pricing raised some eyebrows - $6.50 for a sparkling water that typically retails for $2.00 and another $6.50 for a flavored cold brew served in 10 minutes, despite a few orders placed ahead of mine left me wondering if this pricing truly aligns with the cafe's mission of providing an stress-relieving haven. It made me question if this place is aimed more at creating a trendy space for local college students willing to splurge on overpriced coffee and food. But I suppose if you're a fan of places like Urban Outfitters and Starbucks, this might fit your style. In terms of their coffee, they source beans from Stumptown, a solid choice - not local but maybe that will change in the future, and their pastries are delivered daily from a place in Philly (though the barista couldn't provide the exact name). I tried the cinnamon bun croissant, but it leaned more towards a chewy German pancake than a flaky croissant and didn't quite justify the $6.50 price tag. Perhaps this experience was influenced by the time of day; I visited in the afternoon. On the bright side, parking in the area is relatively hassle-free, thanks to metered spaces. You can refer to the image for the best street to park on, during my two visits (morning and afternoon) there were consistently available spots on this street. The cafe's floral decor adds a charming touch, and their impressive hours, from 6:30 am to 7 pm daily, accommodate early birds and night owls alike. Ultimately, while the cafe has its appealing attributes, including ambiance and hours, I might explore other coffee options due to the higher prices and somewhat underwhelming drinks. Despite this, the cafe's unique style might resonate with others seeking a trendy coffee experience.

This was my second time at Mayday since they opened, and I will not be returning. The first time, I tried their coffee and was extremely disappointed by it. This time, I came in for lunch and ordered two sandwiches—the caprese and the person I was with ordered the turkey pesto. I’m a vegetarian, so it was nice to see two sandwich options (besides a grilled cheese) on the menu. We placed our order without anyone mentioning anything, and the food was brought to us without anything being said. Upon taking a bite into my sandwich, I realized it didn’t have tomato on it, and the turkey pesto was also missing tomato. Additionally, the turkey sandwich had ONE slice of turkey on it. These sandwiches run for $10, more with tax, and even more when you tip 20% for service. The fact that no one said anything at any point before us getting these sandwiches was, in my opinion, very unprofessional and inconsiderate. I spoke to someone behind the counter, though, who offered to make us something else, which was appreciated. Overall, this place is not worth the hype. The atmosphere is the only redeeming quality of the space, which is not enough to maintain a strong base of customers that want to frequent your establishment. With the amount of coffee shops to choose from, there are way better options in West Chester for you to support.

I would not come back when there are so many better options in WC. Both our food and coffee left a lot to be desired. Pour Over: Ethiopian Stumptown roast was one notch above a Maxwell house. I’ve never had such a bland pour over that seemingly lacked any notes or flavor profile. The mug was served with 10oz max coffee when Gryphon Cafe serves nearly double the amount in their chemex with double the taste as well. The charged price of $6.50 made this the most disappointing coffee experience I have ever had. Avocado toast w/micro greens: Avocado was yellowing and brown in spots. Was served with the smallest amount of arugula because they were out of micro greens. Adulting grilled cheese: Ordered without prosciutto bc my wife is a veg, served with prosciutto. Attempts to pick it off in order to not waste food took most of the cheese off with it. Overall the ambience was nice, but the beauty here in my experience was only skin deep.

I’ve been coming to this coffee shop for a while now, and I can honestly say it’s one of my favorites in town! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a welcoming vibe and a delicious aroma that instantly lifts your spirits. But what really makes this place stand out—aside from the fantastic coffee—is the barista, Evan. Every time I visit, he goes above and beyond to make the experience special.

Not only does Evan remember my name and my usual order (which is impressive in itself), but he always takes the time to chat and make sure I’m having a great day. Whether I’m ordering a classic latte or trying something new off the menu, I can count on him to craft the perfect drink every time. He has a true talent for getting the balance just right, whether it’s adjusting the milk froth or adding just the right amount of sweetness. It’s clear he’s passionate about his craft, and it really shows in the quality of the drinks he makes.

What I appreciate most about Evan, though, is his warm and friendly demeanor. He genuinely makes an effort to connect with customers, making everyone feel like they’re more than just a coffee order. It’s rare to find someone who is not only highly skilled but also brings such a positive energy to the job. Even during the busiest hours, he handles everything with a calm, friendly attitude, and you can tell he truly enjoys his work.

Beyond the great coffee and excellent service, the ambiance of the shop is always inviting—comfortable, with a cozy vibe perfect for catching up with friends, reading a book, or just enjoying some quiet time. Evan really adds to that welcoming atmosphere, and I’ve left more than once feeling like I’ve had a little bright spot added to my day.

If you’re looking for a top-tier coffee experience with service that feels like it’s tailored just for you, this is the place to be. I can’t recommend it enough—and a huge shoutout to Evan for always making my visits something to look forward to. This place has earned a lifelong customer thanks to him! 5 stars all the way! Evan we...
