I've had bad coffee. I've had bad tea. But I have never had such disrespectful drinks back to back. The thing that gets me about this place, is that there is clearly so much money invested in the decor, equipment, and facade they are putting on. I have tried espresso, cold brew, and drip coffee drinks from this establishment. As well, their "Matcha Latte" (which after watching the barista make it, is nothing more than 16oz's of milk with a 1oz dash of matcha concentrate kept in a squirt bottle to dye the milk green). Every drink I have received from this establishment has been poor quality. Do not get me wrong, this is not the workers fault. These are clearly the guidelines on how to make their drinks set by the owners. I have no doubt that if I were to go to any location in the city I would receive the same quality, so at least they are consistent. Collectivo Coffee is nothing more than a local chain trying to monopolize on what is trendy, investing in their branding/image rather than the quality. If they can trick enough people once, that is enough for them to stay in business. If you are in the area of Logan Square please go to any other coffee shop, or do what I ended up doing after every trip I made to Collectivo, go home and make...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a newcomer to the area, I decided to visit this spot after my morning run, hoping to find a new favorite. Unfortunately, it didnāt quite hit the mark. While the outdoor seating and free Wi-Fi are nice perks, the cramped interior left much to be desired in terms of ambiance. The staff was also nothing special, and when I asked about the type of coffee beans they used, they couldn't provide an answer. Seems a bit odd for a coffee shop to not know the products being served.
I ordered a brewed coffee, a blueberry muffin, and the Avocado BLT. The coffee, a dark roast, was decent but nothing memorable. The blueberry muffin was of average size and overly sweet, with a disappointingly faint blueberry flavor.
The Avocado BLT was the biggest letdown. Priced at around $12, I expected a hearty sandwich, but what I got was far from it. The ingredients were sparse, with barely any avocado spread or tomatoes, making the sandwich feel overpriced and underwhelming.
With a bill of over $20 including tip, if youāre new to the area, it might be worth a visit for the outdoor seating and Wi-Fi, but I recommend spending your money elsewhere for a better overall...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreColectivo is a great coffee shop.... beautiful design... 30s/40s professionals with their dogs, strollers and #ipads ... be seen and admired for your taste... BUT they were rude, condescending and eager to avoid the homeless man that came in asking for water or some coffee on this, one of the first warm days of spring in Chicago. He wasn't loud or demanding, didn't even look bad, but apparently didn't fit the urban woke vibe -- and when we offered to pick up the tab for his coffee -- were told no and that if really wanted to, we'd have go to the back of the line and start over again. The old man left quietly. And so did we... the coffee didn't taste as good after this, nor did the modish #hipsters look so cool... I guess Colectivo's #onbrand is to loudly voice all the right social opinions while hoping someone else will be uncool enough to actually give a thirsty man some water šš½āāļø ... waaay uncool... I guess I'm just not #woke enough for #Colectivo either ... actually ... I'll take that as a compliment......
