Ordered take-out last night through toast and arrived to pick-up my order (pre-paid) only to be told that it had not been paid for. Showed the employees my receipt from toast and they told me that it must be something in their system but that they still need to see my credit card statement on my phone (weird and not something I was comfortable with but fine if it meant getting out the door) while texting with their manager about this being "unpaid" despite demonstrating the receipt from toast and offering to send it to them as well as showing them that it was through on my CC. They then asked me again to show my credit card statement and when I told them no this time they asked to take down my credit card information (hard no) and, after about 10 minutes they told me "I guess it's fine". About 10 minutes after leaving they call me to tell me that they'd given me the wrong order and ask me to bring it back and "We'll give you something free for your time"... Get back, nothing included extra, no discount off, just a bag of warm sushi that could've been ok but just was room temperature. To be clear, I don't blame the two girls working behind the counter, I entirely blame management for this very odd interaction as the manager was the one telling them to ask for my bank statement as well as CC number. This was wildly inappropriate when I had demonstrated the receipt and offered to send them...
Read moreThey expected myself and my housemates to all eat out of the same box. One housemate couldn’t even eat due to her special needs, and it actually took us an hour to calm her down enough to even come out from under the bed. The manager is apparently a five year old that somebody handed the keys to the castle to, refusing to accept any kind of fault, making fun of people, and then hanging up when you point out that putting multiple different items ordered by different people in the same box in the middle of a pandemic is unsafe. At this point it’s not about the money, it’s about the fact that we live in one of the few major cities in the country where you can safely dine inside because we’ve all done our time being responsible, but then places like this wanna spread plague and germs amongst people because they don’t want to....pay the five cents a box?? Lol I mean, if business is that bad I guess get it but as someone who’s worked in customer service as a manager for over a decade, I’d simply close up shop first. Then again, I’d be positively mortified to employ the woman they call a manager so clearly the owners phoned it...
Read moreDANGEROUS entry way and inconsiderate staff. Proceed with caution. On a rainy day I slipped fell and hurt my back on my FIRST step walking in into this establishment . None of the staff tried to help me up or asked me if I was ok. There was no mat at the door and the floor was very slippery. When I approached the host (who saw me fall) about the dangerous entryway. She said “well that’s what the wet floor sign is for”. And proceeded to look at the person behind me and ask if she could help them. The wet floor sign was inside and there was no way of me, knowing that the floor was wet before walking in. The staff had no consideration for my well-being. I have tried to get a hold of a manager, but they’re never working and nobody has called me back. I am still in pain. I sprained my back and both knees. I have been coming here for years and after this I will never come back. If you want gorilla sushi, Lakeview location same prices and better quality food. Do NOT go to the Wicker Park location. So disappointed in the humans that work...
