It’s 11:00pm and I’m writing this review. If you’re reading this, BE AWARE OF YOUR BILL! Me and my friend were charged over $10 extra for our bill and when we mentioned the 20% off discount for ordering to go in person, he only lowered the bill by $5. He went from trying to charge us $46 and some change to $42 and some change when our actual bill was only supposed to be $32 and some change after the 20% discount. He tried to get over on us TWICE and apologized TWICE after I did the math in front of him. That’s insane! You can’t do business with dishonest people!! Shame on you for trying to get over on your customers!! And to think me and my friend were going to come back here to dine in because the inside and outside looks nice, but looks can be deceiving!! He ended up charging us $32 even because I confronted him about trying to get over on us twice! What a disgrace!

This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant. The food was delicious!! We had the orange chicken and it was very crispy, not too sticky, and tasted very fresh. Portion sizes are very generous as well. Also had chicken noodles and they were decent. There is a sauce you can get (ask the owner) that goes GREAT with the noodles and rice. The owner, Jimmy, was also really awesome. Will be coming again to try other dishes !

Our first time dining. This is another great restaurant gem in Chicago. The food was excellent with great flavor. We had the opportunity to meet the owner, Lan, a down to earth, kind person who makes his own sauces. Amazing! You can order your meal with a variety level of spice. Definitely a must try and when in the area, my new go-to for Asian style food.

Come here if you want to have fun but be treated terribly and have them take your money.

I had my birthday party here and made a reservation for 18 people. I paid the $200 deposit that is “required” the week before the reservation. I was never told anything g more than don’t bring a birthday cake or decoration but “bring lots of alcohol”. Being as not everyone can always make a party and people cancel last minute, only 14 people ended showing up. When I got the bill it was significantly more expensive than I had predicted. The music was blasting and the server was pushing for me to pay and so I got everyone’s cash and couldn’t figure out why the bill was still so high. I ended up paying the difference and obviously had had some drinks in me so it was hard to understand. The next morning I realized that they had charged me for 18 people (what my reservation was originally for). So I was overcharged by 4 people. I called the “restaurant” immediately when they opened and a female worker answered and asked if I knew about the reservation policy and of course no one had told me this. She said it wouldn’t be a problem then and would call back about the refund.

Of course no one called me back. The next day I called and a man answered he proceeded to yell at me and tell me it was my fault that I didn’t let him know 4 people didn’t show up. My question was why couldn’t the server count the amount of people at my table? No response. I proceeded to get yelled at by three men on the phone and they harassed me and told me it’s not their problem, they’re not refunding me, and that I should ask my friends for the money I paid. I was appalled. They didn’t even give me a receipt for the final bill, and I was unable to dispute the charge for it because of it. Don’t go here if you want to be ripped off. This place is barely legal. No one checked IDs when we walked through the doors, the food is barely edible, the owner was passing out and stumbling from drinking too much alcohol.

If I could give negative stars I would. Once again, it was fun but would rather not be...

Lan's Nine Nines Asian Bistro is easily my new favorite Chinese restaurant on the North Side. Very reasonable prices for the quantity of food. I went to the restaurant in person with two other people (men with good appetites) and we had leftovers from the below menu, only paying $30 each before tax. We were very pleased.

We got: -Bowl of rice (we didn't specifically order this, it either comes automatically or with one of the dishes below but it was a good portion and delicious) -Steamed Pork Dumplings: I love steamed pork dumplings, these are some of the best I've had recently/on the North side. Delicious, dipping sauce great, "simple" done extremely well -Green Beans with Garlic Sauce: so good, nicely cooked, great flavor -Lan's Garlic Beef: this was hands down the best Chinese beef dish I've had. Perfect amount of spice and flavor. With the rice and the Garlic Green Beans, a solid meal in itself -Orange Chicken: extremely mild, very sweet orange chicken flavor. If you like that, this is some of the best I've had from a texture, cooking technique, etc. perspective. For me, I want more spice so I am excited to try some of their other dishes or see if they can add spice to the orange chicken -Yong Chow Combo Pan Noodles: great flavor, all of the meats were cooked well, great sauce

They have a full bar as well, we did not partake this time, just an FYI.

Lan's Nine Nines has become...

There were two parties that had made reservations at this establishment, and the owner due to his own oversight failed to realize that he had conflicting bookings. My party was seated by the owner himself, and when the other party pointed out that they had reserved the seats that were given to us by the owner, the owner of the establishment completely blew up on the members of my party and demanded that we all be seated back at the bar in spite of the fact that the owner himself had directed us to that particular seating. The owner proceeded to grab all of our beverages and to address me and my party in a complete disrespectful and hostile manner, and then actually started boasting to the other party that he had thrown us (members of my party ) out and they (other party members) could now be seated. I was infuriated that the owner was so disrespectful and had boasted to the other party that he had treated us like garbage. I informed the other party that I would never try to take their seatings and that we had been misinformed and directed to be seated there by the owner himself. I ended up, cursing out the owner for being so incompetent by failing to recognize the conflicting reservations, and having the audacity to boast about mistreating me and my party members to the other patrons. I would never visit this restaurant again. I would suggest that no one do business at this...
