Namaste Chicago — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

I used to love this place. The last five times I’ve ordered pick up (not through an app - directly from the store) has been an absolutely horrible experience.

I called in and placed my order 35 minutes ahead of time. They asked for an extra 20 minutes. I show up 45 mins after placing the order expecting to wait maybe 10 minutes.

When I walked in there was 10 delivery curriers waiting for food. I couldn’t even get into the building - there was more people waiting for food pick than people dining in. I ended up waiting for another (!!!) 40 minutes for my food. When I got home they didn’t even give me everything I ordered.

During the entire hour+ I was there they never spoke to me, said sorry, or offered me water or anything. Just ignored me (same thing with the plethora of delivery drivers). I thought it was a fluke and maybe a bad night. I used to be a chef so I was planning to let it slide.

Nope. This has happened 3-4 more times to me now and after tonight, I’ll never be going back and never recommending this place to anyone. Absolutely unacceptable in every way. If you can’t handle to-go and mobile orders than don’t take them - do dine in only. They’re being greedy and taking on more orders than they can handle and they’ve lost a valued customer of 10 years because of it.

We unfortunately did not have a good experience here. Really we’re looking forward to the food but it was a severe let down. Went with a large group of people so ordered many dishes. Most were severely and I mean severely under seasoned. The tandoori chicken was bland and came with a sweet sauce to dip it in. The Momos were inedible and came with a red sauce which tasted like nothing. The non veg thali came with sambar which should have come with the momos. The greens in the thali were so salty we used them to add salt to the dal and palak paneer which we also ordered. There was so much food left over but we opted to take just the white rice home cause it was simply so bad.

They were doing a lot of takeout orders so clearly someone wants their food.

Unfortunately it won’t be us.

Some of the dishes we ordered and none of them were good: non veg thali, tandoori chicken, veg momos, butter naan, garlic naan, palak paneer, another paneer dish, a gobi dish, palak chicken(which was very spicy but again undersalted).

Our service was also strange, they expected us to bus our own table and we were just so taken aback that..we did before leaving. Just a strange...

Update: Hours posted are not correct. We called several times and no answer; drove to the restaurant (we live about 20 minutes away) and restaurant was closed. The two numbers called either kept ringing and/or got a disconnected server message. Please at least have a message greeting that informs customers of your hours. The food is solid and always delicious which is the reason for keeping rating at 5 stars.

Delicious! Nice to have a local spot! We have ordered twice from Namaste and the food served and spice level are consistent. The potatoes and peas in the veg samosas are blended and spiced well. The butter naan bread comes in large full sized portions! The serving of butter chicken, although the sauce was rich and tasty, was surprisingly small (expected more chicken for the price point but the dish was still good). We have ordered chicken curry as well but did not have the same issue of receiving small portions. My brother's favorite is the lamb vindaloo (level of heat was perfect since we prefer spicy).
