Vanille Patisserie- French Market — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

Tried ordering a cake for my mothers 70th birthday. Initial outreach was fast after submitting an online inquiry form. I sent inspiration photos as requested and was told I needed to finalize the order the next day so it would be ready in time. I followed-up via phone and email and wasn’t given any next steps. They told me to wait to hear back via email. When I called back again trying to finalize the order was put on hold multiple times spoke with the multiple people. Was told if I had called an hour later my order would not have been put in on time. The woman was rushing my cake options on the phone and kept saying how busy they were. No one clearly looked at the concise email I put together referencing the photos, style of cakes, colors, etc. finally moved forward with another bakery that was responsive, accommodating and very helpful. I never take the time to write reviews, but they have clearly taken on too many orders that they can handle. This level of horrible customer service certainly...

We went there with lot of hope to order a cake from far distance. The lady at the shop was not willing to give her service or take an order.. We just wanted to order a cake. There was no brochures and no options. Even we agreed to wait for 48 hours and asked about a chocolate cake. But she told at the end only one kind of cake i.e some vanilla chocolate which was on display at the moment can be prepared without any option. They cannot prepare a cake even in 48 hours for any occasion? finally we made it to magnolia bakery which was very nice place and delivered it in next 24 hours only..The last st the counter on Wednesday evening, her attitude was not customer centric or helpful. You won't get variety of cakes in this center for any occasion. You can get only limited option and only pastries.Don't go there. I would like to give zero star. Very bad...

I’m French (born there and go back and forth between Chicago and Paris multiple times in the year so I have a good comparison and hope this review has some worth from that standpoint). We love Vanille!! We’ve been ordering their galettes des rois for over 10 years and swear this is the best one in Chicago. I buy at minimum 2 every January to celebrate with family and friends and people always rave about it. I am also obsessed with their passion fruit tart. It has so much flavor and is just mouth watering. The croissants and pain au chocolat are also really tasty - flaky on the outside and soft inside. So delicious and great flavor!!!
