Taiwanese Starbucks? I guess it is like Starbucks in subtle ways - like the fact that they serve coffee. However, that's where the similarities end.
For one, it's quite noisy. It almost reminds me of a dim sum place where you constantly hear numbers being called and announcements every single time fresh bread comes out of the oven.
While it loses to Starbucks when it comes to a place where you can study, 85 makes up for it with not only for its wide selection of drinks, but also a place for a variety of fresh baked bread and cakes.
Iced sea salt coffee with less sugar is a good choice if you have a hard time deciding what drink to order since it's unique to 85. I liked the ham and cheese bread for the savory and the brioche for the sweet. The brioche is nice and soft bread on the inside with a crust that can bet describe as resembling that of a cupcake. It tastes especially good when it's hot out of the oven.
Overall, the West Covina location is probably the better one compared to the other ones they opened in so cal. There's plenty of parking and the line does move fast despite how...
Read more85 is one of our favorite places for a good coffee. But we also love their pastries and breads too! My personal fav is the garlic bread!
The prices are also pretty good too considering how expensive other alternatives are when it comes to a hot drink.
The overall atmosphere in most locations I I've been to are always pleasant and the customer service is pretty decent as well.
If here was anything I wish they could do better at it would be UNLIMITED supplies of their baked items. They are so yummy I guess that is impossible.
Another thing I would add is that they also have some pretty tasty cakes and smoothies as well.
When ever we think of coffee, pastries, breads or just a nice place to go have a little Java, we always look for an 85^ in our area.
They definitely need more locations and later hours!
Otherwise I think it's pretty hard to get better than they already are.
In Covina my kids love the water fountain that has a huge glass ball in it, it's the perfect setting on a sunset time of the day.
Yes, we love this...
Read moreI recently visited the 85C Bakery Cafe in West Covina and tried their Elote Bun. As someone who loves trying new and unique foods, I was excited to try this corn-inspired pastry. And I have to say, I was not disappointed!
85C Bakery Cafe is a bakery and cafe chain with its roots in Taiwan, and it definitely shows in their international selection of desserts and breads. The Elote Bun, in particular, was a standout item for me. It was a soft and fluffy bun filled with a savory and slightly sweet corn mixture that was absolutely delicious. It had just the right amount of seasoning and the bun itself was perfectly baked.
The cafe itself was clean and modern, with plenty of seating and a cozy atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the prices were reasonable. Overall, I had a great experience at 85C Bakery Cafe and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for delicious and unique baked goods in the West...
