Bad experience here. My boyfriend and I went in on Monday for memorial day and Chose to get the tiramisu cake for $50 and it was dry and tasted old and like refrigerator. My family and I tried it and all felt the same way about it. My boyfriend called the next day and the lady over the phone said she that all her cakes are good and then she stated to bring the cake and receipt back. We went the same day we called om Tuesday at night before closing time, the same lady was there (owner) and she stated the credit card machine doesn't allow her to refund the card because it's been a day. She "forgot" to mention that over the phone. She also said she normally doesnt give refunds. I told her theres no sign that says that. So I asked for a cash refund then she stated there wasn't enough for closing time or whatever, more excuses. So she said come back Monday, I told her I would like that in writing then she claimed we could trust her and come back Monday for the refund. (Maybe so we could forget about it). Monday finally came and I reminded my boyfriend to go. He went and apparently she gave him attitude and was rude. She gave his money back but claimed she tried the cake and there was nothing wrong and she made another one and didn't taste anything wrong with it. However, she has the cakes in the fridge uncovered and thats why everyone in my family could taste the refrigerator taste. Also, the cake itself was very dry. Olive garden has better tiramusi which is sad cuz this is an Italian dessert place. My boyfriend confronted her about why it might taste like refrigerator as 6 people tried it and we all said the same thing. I don't trust this lady's taste buds. My boyfriend also told me she gave him attitude by saying "well I gave you your money back so whatever but just know what you're doing is wrong." NO lady what YOU are doing is wrong! Not putting a sign for no refunds. Leaving the big cakes uncovered in the fridge. And as an owner being so unprofessional and giving attitude.
Sad to say we won't be coming here. As we were open to try the Gelato here but no thanks...
Read moreI ordered incorrectly. I thought the fruit gelatos were sorbets so it didn’t taste good to me. But, the fruit flavors tasted fake or mild, like making a banana pie with esters and not the actual ingredient. But some people like that, and maybe it’s supposed to be like that. I’ve never had fruity gelatos before.
I said sorbet out loud but the counter lady didn’t correct me. Sure it was my own fault, but I’m used to eating sorbets and wish she caught that.
As for the non fruit flavors, I felt like either the flavor names weren’t exciting enough or the words to describe the flavors could be more exciting. But I did try hazelnut and chocolate.
Anyways, the reviews for this place advertise it as Italian but it was like Venice gelato and not like major city Rome/Milan gelato.
It’s missing sorbets. It’s missing smack you in the face flavor. I think the texture is correct, I think. It’s just missing that flavor kick of popular Italian gelatos. I couldn’t do samples either. It feels bad to throw away food, but I...

After having lived in Italy for 2 years, it was hard to find anything close to the gelato I had in Italy around my home town. I found this place shortly after coming back, and I have to honestly say it is the best gelato around. I can't even find better gelato in LA or OC.
Il Gusto is Italian owned (not Italian-American), authentic, and the closest thing you'll get to a gelato experience if you haven't been to Italy. I was actually able to have a conversation in Italian with one of the workers, who was from Palermo. The employees are always very nice and welcoming, and their desserts taste great – everything from gelati to cannoli. The perfect amount of sweetness every time I come. My favorite flavors are nocciola (hazelnut) and stracciatela (basically chocolate chip). On a hot day, the fruity flavors are the way to go. Make sure you buy a pint to take home, you...
