Pancheros Mexican Grill - West Des Moines — Restaurant in West Des Moines

This location is the absolute cleanest Pancheros in the franchise. I’ve visited many Pancheros in the state as well worked in a few several years ago. I’ve noticed some locations have been lacking consistency in food quality and cleanliness in the past years. This West Des Moines location should be used as a franchise example for training new franchisees. The owner of this location is definitely doing things right as well as it’s friendly employees. They’re always welcoming the guests and keep themselves clean-cut and professional. The whole operation is to admire. I own a Mexican restaurant in Marshalltown so I know what it’s like to run a business and it’s challenges one faces in this industry.

I applaud the management and team at this Pancheros and will always recommend it to anyone that visits Iowa for the first time.

We visited Pancheros in the last week of April over the weekend for lunch. This was our first visit to Pancheros. Parking is sufficient.

Since, we are vegetarians, we checked with the staff on how the rice was cooked, and after being assured, we went with Tofusada Bowl. We are big fans of Mexican bowls, and Chipotle and Qdoba are our favorites. We wanted to see where Pancheros stands as compared to these two.

We ordered To-Go. The ingredients (rice, beans, veggies and salsa) were freshly prepared and tasted good. The Queso also tasted great. But, we were disappointed with the quantity. The portion size was less. We were charged extra for the Queso, Guacamole and cheese, and they were not sufficient enough. The packing was good. Staff was friendly. Service was good.

Overall, they could do better on portion-size....

I can't even start with how amazing this place is. I have eaten there every one of my past five birthdays I have been to every Pancheos Mexican Grill in Des Moines They are all wonderful. This one is, by far, the best. The staff is exceptionally friendly and will have a great conversation with you (in English or Spanish) while they very quickly make your food, the place is very clean, and it always fills me up. The food is also simply amazing. I love it, and until I started traveling overseas for work, I ate there 2-3 times a week. I love it there and when I am back home, I always eat there. Also, interesting fact: Pancheros is a Iowa company. That sort of makes it all the better for me because I love Iowa businesses. My favorite item to get is the chicken quesadilla...
