Taste of New York Pizza — Restaurant in West Des Moines

Just went here tonight for the first time and this is coming from an (East Coast guy) ! I was raised in CT right next to NY, I've been to NYC many times in my life, pretty much spent 26 years on the east coast and I can confidently say this.... This pizza is the closest you're going to get to NYC pizza in the state of Iowa! We ordered the garlic knots and the Margherita pizza along with a regular cannoli. Total order came out to around $35 , The pizza cost $25, the knots for 5 was about $5 and the cannoli was $4. I went ahead and asked one of the workers the story behind the place and with great detail and a friendly attitude was told the owners of the shop came to Iowa from NY and quite a few of the workers were from NY as well ! Very nice atmosphere in there, friendly staff, and AMAZING food !! Those pizza ovens were HOT, all our food came out in about 15 minuets and we tore into our dinner right in the parking lot, couldn't have been more pleased with the meal.

The cannoli filling was delicious, soft, velvety and tasted so fresh, the shell was crispy and perfectly cooked. The knots were soft with crispy peaks and edges yet fluffy,soft and full of flavor !! And finally that pizza was delicious!!! Steaming hot, crisp bottom , beautifully cooked and thin just like in NY! the dough however is made in house, doesn't come from NYC itself but I'm sure the recipe comes from NY.

We will absolutely be returning here and the slices are massive...

Tonight, I went to Taste of New York in West Des Moines for dinner. I had never heard of this establishment before last night when a friend said she wanted to try it. I'm really disappointed I hadn't heard of it until now; this is definitely a hidden gem!

When you order, you have the option to order a full pizza or pizza by the slice, and since I'd never been here, I chose two different slices: BBQ chicken pizza and traditional pepperoni. The slices come out piping hot and only take a couple of minutes to come out after ordering. The crust is crispy and everything is proportioned perfectly (no flavor overbears the slice) and the slices are huge and reasonably priced. The BBQ chicken pizza has a tangy BBQ sauce with a generous portion of juicy chicken pieces and is absolutely amazing. The friends I was with got the Italian ice and said it's absolutely wonderful (after deciding which flavor to get out of the 10 or so flavors).

Taste of New York was voted "Best pizza in Des Moines", and I definitely understand why. We will definitely be back, especially since it's a small, family owned restaurant versus a big chain. I highly recommend this authentic New York...

This is officially the best pizza is Iowa. Pizza is my favorite food and let me tell you this pizza checks all the boxes. When I arrived I was greeted and felt welcome. The staff even remembered my name even though it was only my second time visiting. The staff member had some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. He was extremely polite. We choose to eat in and the restaurant made me feel like I was walking in to get a slice in Brooklyn. The pizza was amazing. It was fresh and hot, the pizza crust was crisp but still airy , the sauce was amazing and the cheese and toppings were awesome. I can't wat to tell all my friends about this amazing pizza spot and shout to the amazing person that served me and my family you definitely deserve a raise as not only did you give me, my wife and daughter exceptional service I watched you multi task the entire time I was there from taking order to ensuring that the restaurant was clean and to ensuring that we enjoyed our food you truly are exactly what makes...
