Ā Ā Ā Read moreA friend took me and another friend to Leila's recently, and it was absolutely delicious! This was OFFICIALLY the BEST falafel I've ever tasted. It was crunchy on the outside and tender-moist on the inside, and it held its shape, instead of crumbling apart, as most falafels do. I would love to know what the chef's secret was... maybe the falafel was baked, instead of deep fried. I don't know, but I'll be back for more. We also shared an order of muhammara, and it was PERFECTION. I think for lunch, that was considered an "off menu" item, but I asked for some, and they served it. I've had this tangy treat at other Lebanese restaurants, and I would say that Leila's was slightly "sweeter" than other places and perfectly balanced. Honestly, I couldn't stop eating it! Everything was so fresh and homemade tasting. I tried some of my friends' dishes, and they were grilled perfectly (as were my side of grilled vegetables). I had the impression that the man who greeted us was the owner. He wasn't our waiter, but he did bring some food to our table when it was ready, and he was very happy to see my friend and to see how much we were all enjoying the food. He and the staff were very pleasant. We went there for lunch on a weekday, and it was very reasonably priced. (I understand that their dinner menu is a bit more expensive, but I guess that's common with many restaurants.) There is indoor and outdoor dining. The outdoor is in an enclosed tent in the back. We ate indoors, where there seemed to be a lot of local business folks having their business lunches. As we were leaving, I looked around and noticed how packed the place was. Obviously, it's a local favorite and for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat find for Mediterranean offerings, and food was great but a few things turned my visit into a very fair 3 star experience. The good: food is at par with other decent Mediterranean offerings in West Palm Beach, and surrounding areas. Service is excellent, and our server was simply delightful. The 2 star-deduction: The portions are small, and I eat light and almost always take my leftovers home but at Leila's, I ate all that was offered and still needed to eat when I got home! Like most refined palates, I judge any establishment by the quality of Martinis' and Leila's sadly failed the test. The drinks were watered down, and even after 2 Martinis, I couldn't tell I had any alcohol at all. As someone who only drinks occasionally and with good company, this was unexpectedly disappointing especially since we were celebrating a birthday. The seating outside was cute but mosquitoes had a better feast than I did, and sadly at my expense. Any exposed parts were bitten raw, and I imagined they would have had contingencies for that! That made the location even less desirable than it already is between two character lacking city streets. Finally, the prices didn't match the experience. This $150+ dining experience did not live up to the sticker price. I wouldn't return, only because there are several Mediterranean options within driving distance for less, with comparable or better food, and better surroundings. However, I would reconsider If they cleaned up the frayed edges that took away from my...
