Very disappointing experience. The hostess and the ambience were the only two things that went right during our visit.
We made reservations for a Saturday night due to seeing the place was busy walking past on other nights. We arrived about 15 minutes early, and the hostess still quickly sat is with no issues. Water was quickly provided, but then we waited; 5 minutes, 10 minutes, almost 15 before our server finally introduced herself.
Ordered drinks and the Meatball a la Sourbon. Drinks took almost 10 more minutes which is unacceptable when they're in the "signature cocktails" list and they weren't busy yet. The meatballs were pretty good but honestly how do I know that it was ground up filet mignon? I don't, just trust.
For dinner my wife order the Salmon a la Granchio and I the Lamb Chops. We also ordered another round of drinks, which came much faster this time.
Dinner arrived and immediately my wife noticed something was off about her meal. The Minted Mango Buree Blanc was not on the fish. When asked, the server said it was under the fish. Nope, not there either. She begrudgingly brought a gravy boat with the sauce in it. My meal came with two racks of three chops. The first was perfectly cooked to medium and rest of the support garnishment was very good. The second rack however was cooked well done, if not a bit more.
Finished both oir meals and drinks we watched our server walk by several times with no acknowledgment of us at all. Excuse me didn't work to get her attention, we had to call her by name twice to come back to our table. At that point we had empty plates and glasses for almost 10 minutes. We ordered one more drink so we could just relax and chat.
Check came and I took a quick look while inserting my credit card. Wait, this math doesn't make sense. Looking closer this restaurant automatically adds 18% gratuity no matter the party size, and a 3% credit card fee. I rarely tip less than 20%, but for only two people and to think the services rendered were worth 18% automatically is pretty bold. We ask for the manager, which tirned outnto be just one of the other servers. She was quite rude and stated that the automatic gratuity is normal at many restaurants. I don't know where she's talking about because we eat out at least once a weekend between two counties, almost never at the same place and have never seen that for two people.
With great frustration she removed the automatic gratuity, we tipped what was appropriate fornthe services and will never be back.
It's a shame really. Such a nice place, location, and menu. But, the service during our visit should not be tolerated by the management team.
Other note: The prices on the online menu and the in-restaurant menu are different; $1 to $3 dollars, insignificant to most patrons, but details should matter...
Read moreThere was a group of 9 of us, we came in from out of town to celebrate a friends birthday. At the start of the dinner everything was great, drinks and food came out on time and the food was delicious. We ate our food and sat for almost an hour without the server checking in on us. I couldn’t find him in the restaurant so I asked someone to grab him because we were ready to close out.
We waited another 10-15 minutes and no one came to our table. Finally the server came back and apologized and said he was taking care of people upstairs at the speakeasy. We told him we were ready to close out and waited another 15 minutes. At this point it’s 11 o clock and our reservation was at 9. When the server came back he didn’t come back with our checks he came back with some plates, took a look at the table and noticed none of the plates have been cleared off and turned around. I got back up and asked to speak to the manager because at this point it was getting ridiculous. The manager or owner was sitting at the bar with her laptop. I explained to her that the service has been horrible, it was my friends birthday that we were celebrating and no one checked on us for 40 minutes. She proceeds to tell me that “it was not 40 minutes but the customer is always right” and asked if we got dessert. I told her it actually was 40 minutes, the server interrupted and said he was upstairs attending to guests and I told him “at that point you should let someone know you need help and have someone else attend to our table.”
After that conversation with the manager, nothing was resolved. I told her it’s a shame because the restaurant is beautiful but we will never be coming back here. When I went to sit back down the server came back with a tray of 9 espresso martinis (which would have been great if I drank alcohol.) 2 other people at the table were pregnant and not drinking as well. Although this was a great surprise, something else should have been offered from the restaurant for the time we wasted.
We were ready to leave after he dropped the checks off and he left them sitting on the table not cashing us out for another 20 minutes. We didn’t get out of dinner until about 12am. It took us one hour to drink and eat our food, we should have been out of there by 11 the latest.
I’m so disappointed in the service we received at this establishment but I am most disappointed about how the manager handled the situation. We regret taking our business here and will...
Read moreAesthically, BEAUTIFUL. However, why make a reservation if the restaurant can not accommodate the reservation in an appropriate time frame? We had dinner reservations for 6:30 and arrived on time. We were told the table would be ready in 10-15 minutes, no problem at all! We were excited to sit at the bar and we had a glass of wine together. My husband mentioned to the hostess as she passed that we were going to wait here to let us know when she was ready for us. After 30 minutes passed, we were finished wirh our glass of wine, we saw the bar was in need of space for other guests arriving so we excused ourselves, paid our bill and head to the receptionist to inquire about how much longer the table would take (there were several tables open). She said she did not have an exact time, and I explained there were seats open, I witnessed them take a table of 4 that walked in, and we were told originally 10-15 minutes. The receptionist had little to nothing to say, I asked for the manager. Shortly after, a woman came up to my husband and I and stated her name was Olga, and what was the concern? I found her initial approach very sharp, and I was taken back. I asked if she was the manager, and she replied no- there is no manager at the restaurant that they only have lead wait staff, and she was the lead wait staff. Then she squinted her eyes in such a condescending manner, I hardly knew what to say. I replied that we had a reservation reservation, we were on time and kindly got up from taking up seats at the bar because we saw there was no room for people looking to order drinks, and it has been 30 minutes I’m simply asking when will be able to be seated? She then replied that the kitchen is busy, reservations are not specific, and just like the receptionist had no reply in regards to when we would be seated. I suggested we sit in the tables that WERE available and she said they’re for 3 and up parties. I just don’t understand how they can sit larger parties right away and keep their reserved guests waiting. I told her I found her tone, and eye gestures very condescending and not nice. We ended up leaving and it was just upsetting that there was no apology, no sense of understanding, no solution from the restaurant and Olga’s demeanor was unprofessional. I do think the restaurant is absolutely beautiful, was so excited to dine there we drove from Boca to experience this restaurant and it was just...
