The clasp had started going out on me. I almost lost the necklace two or three times, so I decided to get it fixed. Called up Van Drakes to get a rough estimate on the cost of repair. What they quoted me, it was a solid quote, so I went with Van Drake. When I got there, I could see plenty of jewelry accessories and options for both men and women on display. I was fortunate enough to work with Craig, the owner I believe. He took a look at my necklace and informed me that my necklace, an old confirmation gift, was probably on it's last leg. He pointed out, and showed me, that the links and clasp had worn down significantly over time. He said he could replace the clasp, if I wanted, but the necklace itself could fail at any time... rather than just taking my business, knowing the clasp would likely outlast my necklace, he gave me the hard truth. I recently lost my first born child and wanted to recreate some one-of-a-kind jewelry my child had made at Van Drake Jewelers. When I first walked in, Jim greeted me with great courtesy and respect. Then, he directed me to Craig for my unique jewelry design. As soon as I described to Craig what I wanted and where it originated from, he immediately said, “I remember your child, your child was a delightful being, and I really enjoyed working with your him (them)”. Such compassion, tenderness, respect, and kindness in that one statement which transferred into the jewelry they created for me and every action and interaction thereafter. I cannot express how delighted I am with Van Drake’s. It was recommended to me by a close friend who’s family has been going there for decades, and I now understand why! I’m getting married in October and wanted to honor my late grandmother by turning an earring she had worn into a ring I could wear on my special day. The staff guided me through my request with ease and expertise, and even helped address some concerns with my existing engagement ring (purchased elsewhere) with care and kindness. They even buffed out some small dents and scratches left by the previous jeweler in five minutes, which hadn’t been addressed by the other jeweler the two times I’d been by to have it fixed.
