The entrees were good and you got a lot of food for your money. The people that got margaritas in our group said they were delicious.
The salsa was really good, very cilantro forward. But the chips were awful!
The service was pretty horrendous as well. There were 2 waitresses on that night. We had a group of 8 and there was nobody else here on a Saturday evening. We were the only table. Everyone else got their drinks, but they didn't bring my water. I had to ask for it again about 10 minutes after everyone else got their drinks (because we couldn't get the waitresses attention/flag her down).
My dad had asked about deep fried ice cream when we got there and was very excited that they actually had it. When we were all done with our entrees and all the plates had been cleared, we kept waiting for the waitress to come over again.
We finally (after about 15 minutes) had to go over and get her. (Mind you, still no other diners in the restaurant.) She brought over the check. Dad was a bit disappointed that she didn't even ask if we wanted dessert (especially since he expressed interest at the beginning of the meal), but he also said that at that point, he just wanted to get out of there.
As I said, from what I heard from my end of the table, the entrees were good and so were the salsa and drinks. But the chips and sevice were awful. I would probably...
Read moreWe are from TX staying in SLC for the next 3 months at the hotel down the road. We were super hopeful from the reviews we saw (plus the fact that the website touts this place as being established by Mexican immigrants), but were highly disappointed. The server took our drink order (2 Cokes) and brought back water, then looked at us like she didn’t know what we were talking about when we said we ordered Coke. The salsa tasted like tomato water with zero flavor or spice. My husband got the Steak A La Ranchera and I got the Mix Fajitas. The food looked appetizing, but was so bland it tasted like someone stood in the next room and yelled the names of spices at it while it cooked to give it its “flavor”. The Ranchera sauce on my husband’s plate had the most flavor out of anything we ate, but that’s not saying much. Coming from TX where Mexican food is the best outside of actual Mexico, we weren’t expecting it to be perfect, but we were still flabbergasted at how there could be people of actual Hispanic descent making this slop. I’ve never regretted a restaurant choice more than this one. Don’t waste your money here. Find a food truck somewhere that actually knows how to cook real,...
Read moreIt was Alright. The salsa was a little bland and I hate to compare it to other Mexican restaurants that are basically all the same minus the name the others seem to put more attention to their food. The beans were really runny. The rice needed to have salt added to the cooking because it had none. But it wasn't horrible. It could have been better. Hopefully, they strive to be better. Their building was nice. Easy find. Decorated beautifully and from what I could tell as we just got take out it was very clean and nice inside. They definitely have first look impression 4-5 stars. Though that is not the reason I had ordered there. Plus! When we did get the take out we ordered over the phone, took us about 30 minutes to finally get there, but when we showed up they didn't know anything about our order and had to wait another 15-20 minutes to get it, as if the person that took our order over the phone didn't do their job; which I suspect. Anyway lots of room for improvement. Not that awful but I would probably order from one of the other restaurants...
