Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in West Virginia

When I lived in Martinsburg, I was a regular customer at Applebee's, and while its not fine cuisine, its reliably good food with usually pleasant service and a nice atmosphere to meet up with friends and have a drink or two.

Since moving to Charles Town, I've had the opportunity to eat at Applebee's here a few times, both in small parties and large, and at different times during the evening, from dinner time to late night. All the times I've visited the Charles Town location, the service has been exceptionally poor. Twice, I've waited for ten minutes or more at the hostess podium as there is no hostess on duty, even though the restaurant was very uncrowded. They have made mistakes on the orders on at least one person's meal every time I've been there. The food has not been up to the usual standard of Applebee's, and often tastes bland or appears thrown onto the plate without care. All the wait staff that I've dealt with were unapologetic for the delays, and for the mistakes. None offered to "make things right" by taking incorrect items off the bill. In fact, I've had problems with getting the bill corrected as well. Complaints to the on duty manager have typically been responded to briefly with comments like "I'm very sorry to hear that," or "I'll make sure this gets taken care of." The thing is, the manager doesn't even pretend to be sorry to hear that, and in fact appears totally unsurprised, and slightly bored, and at least so far, he hasn't made sure anything was taken care of. In a large party, our bill reflected things we hadn't ordered. The waitress brought out an incorrect bill twice. We asked for the manager, who assured us he would fix it, only to send the waitress back with yet another wrong bill the third time. My friends and family and I now avoid the Charles Town Applebee's, and if we really feel like going to Applebee's, we make the 20 minute drive up to...

I went in with my daughter, waited 10 mins and had to ask a server why we haven't been talked to yet... The lady (Christine, I think) server came up and was maybe feeling some type of way.. I let it go and gave her our order.. The table that sat about 30 mins after us got their food and I said something to her and 1 min later our food shows up. I've gotten my drink b4 then and it tasted like koolaid.. no alcohol what so ever (didn't complain) The steak was hard as a brick... I pushed it to the side and asked for a manager.. As I'm explaining all this to him he states at me with this dumb look on his face.. at the end I tell him to "Iron his shirt and look professional", he walks away.. About 2 mins later this outrageous young lady went to the table beside me and yelled at them and I told her (I said it) she came to me and start yelling (with my 17 yo daughter) sitting there.. to "get out now".. they still had my card for the 7$ I was paying... she continued to yell at me, so I yelled back.. then some random man threatens me and all hell break loose (verbally) He comes around to assault me and I go to protect me and mine and the table behind me (that was yelled at first) come to say "No.. stop.." Next thing I know I'm hearing the cops are coming, so me and my daughter leave.. Then I call in and some "Dad" answers the phone and threatens me and we talk, I explain and next thing I know the cops are on the phone saying I'm trespassed for that location... This place is a Joke... all over me not liking my food... B4 the young lady shows up and yells at me, I'm telling the bus boy and Christine I would hook them up with a tip.. But because some young lady decided to be a BOSS.. took it all out of proportion... This place is trash and so are most of the workers.. Definitely wouldn't...

Today, my husband and I tried getting a table at the Applebee's in Charles Town. Upon entering the restaurant, it was rather calm for a Monday evening. We waited and waited for a hostess to seat us, and after a while, we were finally seated by the bartender. We were assigned to "Cece" , who couldn't have cared less that we were there. We knew what we were going to order right away, so for now, she took our order of 1 appetizer, 1 water, and 1 sweet tea. We waited 20 minutes for the drinks, then were brought to us by the manager AFTER HE brought us our appetizer. We watched Cece from our table, fooling around at the POS system, avoiding work. She didn't service us or any other tables for that matter. We still hadn't an opportunity to order our entrees yet. She didn't seem like she wanted to be there, which was obvious when she complained to another waitress how she "didn't like cleaning tables " nor wanted "another customer." After waiting for so long, she eventually made her way back to us, but at that point, we paid with cash (no receipt) and walked out. She had this look of confusion when we left without ordering more. We went elsewhere for dinner this evening and had GREAT service. Sadly, this location is pretty bad when it comes to service and quality. This location needs new management and new staff. My advice to "Cece" - YOU chose that job. If you don't like that type of work, then go someplace else. Your attitude tonight was absolutely pathetic, and you deserve a hard...
