El Rancho Grande — Restaurant in West Virginia

I’m a trucker, and I found out the hard way that a Mexican food truck has a better presentation and quality than this place, I order carne asada plate, the meat sliced thin, no problem with that but it was too dry and very small portions, not a shred of vegetables just a lots of grilled onions, the chile relleno that I asked a la cart flat with some flavorless red sauce, I think is the same they use to serve the chips with but hot. This place is a cheap copy of a Mexican restaurant. Not to mention, when it came time to pay the bill, I said 10% tip, he asked me twice and I replied 10% And he said wow! I usually I’m a very generous, but no, not this time. Service without smile, just going through the motions...

Picked up a to go order and then at home, discovered it was not fresh to taste. The meat was dry and there were dried up vegetables within the dish. It appeared to either have been overcooked or made earlier in the day. Also, flavor was lacking. Have actually eaten at the location in the past with good or decent prepared dishes, but this to go order was a big disappointment. I called to let the manager know our experience. Was told we would get a discount on our next meal rather than our meal being replaced. We love and were craving Mexican food, but this was not a good experience. We stopped in for dinner, and they weren't busy at all on a Saturday night after 7:30. I was surprised about that. My wife got a combo dish with enchiladas, burrito, with rice and refried beans. I got the taco salad in a shell. The wife liked hers, but my taco salad was small and served with a huge glob of sour cream on top. Not much meat, or refried beans with a lot of lettuce. I had to order a separate guacamole salad to fill the gap, and that was a very small scoop of guacamole on a plate of lettuce with a tomato slice. Service was average.
