First time being back in West Virginia in four years and this was the first sit down restaurant that I had been to with my family.
Looking at the rating, I was anticipating great things from a place that I called home. When we parked, the gentleman at the Host Station was dealing with a customer in front of us and then quickly interacted with us as soon as possible. He quickly passed us over to what was eventually our waitress and we were sat relatively quickly. The area wasn't busy and it appeared to have 3 waitresses on the floor. After sitting us down, our waitress asked for what we wanted to drink then as we attempted to make selections, she proceeded to tell us they were out of lemonade and various common soft drinks. After finding a selection that they had, we ordered a meal for our children to have to mitigate the wait in between the rest of the ordering. That burger came out relatively quickly. When the drinks came out, there was a 10 minute gap in between the soft drinks and then the beer that I had ordered. And then after putting in the order of nachos, with no jalapeños, and a burger; we waited for about 15 - 20 minutes for my burger and then a quesadilla with jalapeñoes to come out. After reflagging our waitress down, we asked for the order to be corrected, to which she apologized and then replied "I didn't even check it before bringing it out to you all." It then took another 15 - 20 minutes for the Nachos to come back out. By that time, there was zero interaction or asks for refills. The nachos themselves were filled to the brim with toppings, and had an interesting way of presenting them, originally filled in a bottomed out coffee can, was unique. But then proceeded to be a mess when the can was emptied all over the tray and utensils. There were multiple empty tables around us that proceeded to remain dirty and covered in dishes, trash, and food for the entire time we were there (~1hr 20min). And then upon checkout, our receipt read like a mess. To where that messed up order of "quesadillas" was originally charged and then comp'd on the receipt, which was irritating to see.
I have been told that there are other locations to this chain in the area, which i might give a chance. But I will not be returning to this...
Read moreOur family stopped at your restaurant on the way to a funeral. With all the delicious- looking billboards along the way, we were excited to give it a shot. The restaurant was quiet just before lunch time so we were in for a treat. Our drinks and appetizer (pretzels and cheese) came out quickly and the waitress seemed attentive. The pretzels were probably the best I've ever had: uniquely shaped, warm and soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Considering I ordered a burger with a pretzel bun, I was in for a treat! Traveling About 5 out of 11 hours while 6 months pregnant with my family, I was ready to see what Fat Patty's was all about.
About 10 minutes after the pretzels were delivered, our waitress let us know that our food was on its way out and thanked us for our patience. We were ok with that ETA and then we waited...40 minutes go by and the whole restaurant, many who arrived after us received their beautifully plated food. Our waitress was not to be found, drinks not filled as they were originally, other waitstaff avoided our table like the plague, and the manager worked diligent in his office in the back side of the restaurant.
Our ravenous party of 5 stood up and left. The manager came to the front after my cousin finally saw our Waitress re-appear at the hostess stand, stating our food was on its way out as we were walking out, let us know that it was because the drive thru was busy and that's why we were yet to be served.
If this was the case, why was the rest of the restaurant served in record time? Why did the manager have time to work in his office during this pinnacle of drive-thru service? Where did our waitress actually go? Why did the rest of the staff avoid us like the plague? Regardless of these answers, one thing is for sure we hope that your team learns what good customer service looks like and treat parties equally and...
Read moreFat Patty’s used to be a fun place to hang out and grab a bite to eat. Now it’s a sad corpse of what it was in it’s glory days.
The interior: What happened? The place feels bright and weird. The restaurant ambiance is killed by the white walls and the gray wood floors (and the weird transition pieces from the gray to the brown floors). The walls used to be dark green and the floors used to be all dark wood and carpet. This kept the place dim and feeling like a sports bar. This place no longer feels like a sports bar. It doesn’t even feel like a restaurant.
The service: My table’s service was alright. However, a table next to us, after waiting for several minutes to be served, got up and left. The weird thing is the manager was lurking around the whole time and never thought to wait on these people? And about the manager, during most of our visit, he lurked around the restaurant floor but never spoke to any of the guests and didn’t help out the servers despite the fact that people weren’t being timely served. It felt like we were being watched by our principal at recess.
The food: The food is alright and still affordable. Keep in mind, nobody really went to Fat Patty’s for the food quality. It was always about the atmosphere, the friendly service, and the affordable prices. So while their still doing alright on the food, they are flopping on the two other things that really made Fat Patty’s a local staple.
Fat Patty’s has lost it’s way. And it was evident—there was hardly anybody there at dinner time! This place used to always be packed any day if the week. What a shame. Hire an interior designer and reinvest in what made this place so great: the atmosphere! And Mr. Manager—stop lurking and get this place going again! I miss Fat Patty’s. Everybody misses Fat Patty’s. This is a sports bar for God’s...
