My review's long overdue, but take my experience as the assurance you need in booking with Elite Excursions.
Back in October 21', my better half & I rode our bikes from Washington, DC to Pittsburgh via the C&O and GAP trails. On the very first night, I'd unfortunately made a booking mishap that left us without a hotel reservation. We continued riding into the nite, making phone call after phone call, but soon realized there wasn't an available room around for the next 20+ miles..And it was pitch black.
Around 9pm or so (approximately the time my gf was second guessing if she'd made a mistake joining this trip), we made it to the Bavarian Inn of Shepherdstown, WV and were provided with Kim Michels' card, of Elite Excursions.
I gave her a call and didn't really expect an answer considering the hour, however Kim promptly picked up and was ready, willing & glad to help. Over an hour+ away having also just dropped off a group of people, she confirmed she'd be able to pick up the both of us and our bikes and shuttle us over to Williamsport. True to her word, she arrived as she'd estimated (and also kept in touch, providing ETA updates/confirmations). She helped us secure our bikes in the van, made sure we were all set, hit the road & dropped us off in Williamsport around 11pm or so. It was a long and exhausting night, but Kim gave us the moral boost we needed. On top of that, she was a pleasure to chat with and we both enjoyed learning about her, how the business began and the different tours, transportation & services that they offer. She was friendly and made our experience a very welcoming one.
My experience with Kim gives me 110% confidence in their services and I'm sure any Wine Tours, Weddings, or any other special events booked with Elite Excursions will leave you more than happy.
Thanks Kim, you really came through when...
Read moreWon't even respond to my email to give a quote, sent the request last Saturday, got an automated email saying they'd respond within 24 hours, didnt receive anything Sunday, figured "oh maybe they are just closed on Sunday" waited a bit longer, didn't receive anything on Monday, woke up Tuesday, sent a followup email checking on the status, didnt receive a reply, sent another follow up email to their other email for questions. Didn't hear back, its now Thursday, almost a week after I put in a request for a quote and I've still heard nothing. Highly unprofessional esepcially when promising reply within 24 hours. My trip is coming up soon and i still have no idea what im doing for transport and i simply have to look into other options now because this company cannot even be relied on to answer their email how am i supposed to trust them to pick me up on time.
Update: They finally replied 5.5 days after my initial inquiry, and their reply was equally as unprofessional as their wait time. For starters the wording sounded like it was written by a middle schooler and was very unprofessional. Secondly they claim they don't offer the service i requested yet allow me to request it? (Its all drop down boxes answering questions about the inquiry so its literally options they included but apparently don't provide? What I gathered is if you want anything besides a vineyard tour you're out of luck.
Save yourself the trouble of dealing with this company and just book from someone else. Maybe their tours are alright, I wouldnt know, but I don't think its worth dealing with their unprofessional behavior. And I wouldn't trust them to provide a good experience if they can't handle something as simple as answering emails in a timely manner. (Especially given they promise 24 hour...
Read moreBack in October my bf and I decided to bike the C+O and GAP Trail. Our plan was to stay in hotels along the way. On the first day of our trip, we intended to stay in Harper's Ferry after biking 67 miles, but every hotel and B&B was booked. Finally, we made the decision to stay at the next stop on the trail in Shepherdstown, WV an additional 12 miles.
As we approached Shepherdstown, we were biking in the dark and got there around 8pm. Again we called all the hotels in the area and no one had any vacancies because there was a big college football game happening. The thought of getting back on the trail at 8pm to bike over to the next town felt impossible.
We stopped at the Bavarian Inn and asked for an Uber/Lyft but there were none at that hour. The hotel receptionist gave us a business card for Elite Excursions and told us to try them. We called and left a voice message and I didn't think she would call us back because it was about 9pm at that point and I thought businesses would be closed.
To our surprise, Kim called us back and said she could drive us to the next town over and that she was on her way. We told her we had 2 bikes and she said that was no problem. I was so relieved when I saw her arrive. She drove us for about 30 minutes to Williamsport where we were finally able to find a motel for the night. Kim really ended up being a lifesaver because I don't know what we would have...
