I am literally sitting in my car in the parking lot of the chipotle in my hometown. A chipotle that I have gone to for the last 10 years. And for myself, it's the best, most consistent chipotle I have ever been too. I know for a fact many of these employees have been there for several years.
Today I placed an order on the chipotle app, as I have done on multiple occasions. My order was not ready when I went to the restaurant but again, knowing or at least recognizing some of the people working I did not mind at all waiting the 2 minutes to complete my order.
While this was going on a large, younger (aged 25-35), African American what I assume to be manager, openly berated and scolded a employee who had just walked into work. The tragic mistake that this employee made this fateful day is he had the nerve to walk one step behind the line without receiving a wellness check...Whatever that means.
Yes. This employee. In full view and ear shot of roughly a dozen people, half employees, half customers, had to take a verbal lashing from his boss for what seemed like to me to be an honest mistake.
It would be bad enough if that's all it was. But to my shock the manager, I assume, went on the threaten EVERYONE'S job if they did not get a wellness check before crossing the line. Not once. Not twice. But three times.
I simply could not believe it.
It's a Saturday afternoon on what has been one of the better weather weekends central Ohio has seen in a month. These people aren't here for kicks. They are here because they need this job. And to threaten their job, their income, in such a flippant way is honestly disturbing to me. It shows to severe lack of character, understanding, and leadership.
I currently am a waiter part time. I know what it means to have your employees to meet standards. To hold everyone accountable. But to go on a random diatribe and threaten peoples job, as they do their job, seems to me like more of a power trip.
It is possible that this manager was having a bad day. Maybe somthing went wrong earlier that I did not see. But the way to which he scolded his employees and how brazen he was to do so in front of customers leads me to believe this was not his first time. I did not get this impression.
I wil continue to go to chipotle. But rest assured if I see anything like what I say today I will NO LONGER spend my hard earned money there. There are about 12 places in a 500 yard radius that I can grab a bite to eat.
I took the time to write this because I care about chipotles employees. Hopefully you care enough to give me a response. From a...
Read moreI’m not the type of person to leave a review but my experience today was so bad that I want to help others to consider eating elsewhere or drive a mile or two down the road to a different location. I walked into Chipotle and immediately noticed the entire staff huddled in a group over by where they make the takeout orders. They saw me come in and blatantly ignored me. I waited for about 5-7 minutes standing and waiting for someone to come over and take my order. I was staring at the staff and tried to wave one employee over but I was stuck waiting for their loud conversation about football to end. A guy came over to take my order finally. When he finished making my food he yelled the cashier over but she was ignoring him as well. I guess he gave up yelling because I had to wait some time for her to walk over to ring me out. I think her name was Dash? This was actually comical because not only did the staff ignore me but they were ignoring each other too. The cherry on top was seeing the manager in the huddle talking to the cook, which was crazy because the cook had unattended chicken cooking on the grill the entire duration of me being there.
The bowl sucked by the way. Portions were smaller than normal and he put no effort into making my bowl. I felt like I was inconveniencing him by being a costumer and interrupting his conversation with his buddies during working hours.
In conclusion I feel the manager is to blame. I assumed that most of the employees that work there are high schoolers so I’m not going yell at them or say they need to be fired because they are just kids who need to learn. The disrespect, laziness and ignorance needs to be fixed on the other hand, and in the mean time, I recommend people go to a different location. The Chipotle on 23 across from Walmart is really good and the Chipotle on Polaris isn’t half bad. This one is by far the worst location.
If you’re like me where you can’t really give up chipotle because you have been eating it for years then go somewhere else where you can at least get the bare minimum of service and the right amount of portions for...
Read moreThis is my first restaurant review but I feel obligated to do so. I have been a fairly regular customer of chipotle over the years. This chipotle in particular has plummeted in both quality of food and service. The past 6-9 months have been horrible. I keep giving them chances and the most recent visit is the last time I will ever go. First is the service, the service is atrocious. Staff here are very rude and dismissive. Many of the employees behind the counter are in their own worlds on their phones or conversing with each other. Even more importantly, the place is filthy ALL OF THE TIME. Busy, slow, doesn’t matter. The food counter looks like someone took a scoop shovel and dumped all the ingredients all over the counter so by the time your burrito gets to the end it’s covered in all of it. The trash most times is overflowed all over the floor to the point people are forced to put their trash on the adjacent table where people sit and eat. It’s truly mind boggling that management (if there is management) doesn’t fix these issues. I’ll also touch on online ordering. Don’t arrive on time, I would recommend showing up at least 20-30 minutes after its supposed to be done. And when 15 minutes goes by and you ask for the first time if your order is done, be prepared for someone to snap at you like its your fault they are so slow. This location is also regularly out of items like chips, protein, etc… a month or so ago my wife and I had to throw away our burritos cus they were so salty you couldn’t...
