Well folks, I gotta say this wasn't my favorite breakfast place (currently that's City egg on Bethel rd). To begin- very clean on entry. Not crowded (even by COVID standards). Staff was friendly and prompt. My drink was served in a 8-10 oz Mason jar which was cute. The prices are about standard for the portions, with no meals being less than $7 and the smaller options no less than $4.50. The meal was... ok. I got the Hearty Breakfast (two eggs, choice of meat and side, two hotcakes in your choice of flavor). Mine was scrambled eggs (came flat not fluffy, tasted... meh? No salt at the table, that might've helped), bacon (too crispy, somehow a little tasteless), hash browns (perfect, honestly), and cinnamon roll hot cakes (iHop makes MUCH better cinnamon pancakes, although they don't have cinnamon butter). It was almost $11 for the meal, plus $2 for the drink, which I think is only a few dollars more than City egg for roughly the same portion. I was sitting next to the kitchen window area and I gotta say, someone was having an off day. Either the waitresses hadn't put their full orders in or the cooks had forgotten things because they kept having to ask for items. The restroom was clean and scented by way of leaving an open (unlit) candle on the counter. (If you go please note, the door is very heavy and will slam closed if you don't do it gently.) All in all I give it a 3.5, rounded up for fairness and because the table/booth was clean and comfortable and my waitress...
Read moreWay too overpriced for what was delivered, in my opinion. With so many places making breakfast from scratch around the Westerville area, I was surprised to get deep fried seasoned potatoes that were previously frozen.
We got - King CFS (978) Chicken fried steak covered in sausage gravy, two eggs*, choice of side & toast. 13.99
The steak was a smallish portion (compared to our typical place) and we only received 1 piece of toast (as opposed to 2 at our typical place) and paid &1 more- and the hash browns were previously frozen and deep fried.
The gravy was okay and they provided no salt or pepper. They also didn't include enough ketchup but over included jelly for the 1 slice of toast. (5 packets of jelly).
I had their famous hearty breakfast for $12.39, 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 3 strips of bacon and the home fries.
Nothing more than okay there. I would have air fries the potatoes myself rather than deep fried them.
Okay he best thing was their syrup. Kudos to them for using Ohio made maple syrup.
All in all there are better options in the Westerville area with...
Read moreWe go every Sunday, I just hate giving this review because they are already too busy. They do too many things right to talk about them all and too few things wrong to take away any stars. I just wish I could teach the cooks how to make consistently great hasbrowns and for me this place would be perfection. BTW, in case your reading, mr grill chef, grill hot, but not too hot. Not too much grease, but with what grease you do have make sure its hot before you put the potatoes on, then smash them down to a patty, hamburger size thickness or less, but bigger in circumference of course, then let them get golden crispy and flip til golden crispy on the other side too, but not burnt. You want to avoid those potatoes in the middle of the patty becoming greasy and/or mushy like mashed potatoes, that just spoils the whole thing. Maybe you're using frozen hashbrowns and thats part of the problem, but that doesnt sound like something sunny would do, so I'm pointing back at the cook. Serve'em up right next time and my review will 6 shining stars of...
