Yesterday, my friend and i took a trip to Vicki's Diner for a quick dinner stop. We came 30 minutes before they closed, and they were still happy to serve us. As soon as we entered the door we were greeted in a very friendly manner and seated. Promptly after being seated we were greeted by our server who brough us water and took our orders within a few minutes. All the staff were very friendly there and it was a great experience overall, as even after we receieved our food, the staff came by multiple times to check in on us and make sure we were good, even whilst they did their closing duties, but they never made us feel pressured and even served another customer who came in 10 minutes before close!
For food we ordered Vicki's special breakfast platter as well as a chicken tender parmigiana sandwich which was fantastic. All the food was brought out promptly after we ordered and it was fresh and hot. The taste was good, classic American diner feel. No complaints about the food it was a very satisfying meal!
As far as the atmosphere it was amazing! I loved the classic retro diner feel that Vicki's has. The entire place is built with shiny chrome that gave it that retro diner feeling! The booth seating was leather and came in a bright red color as well as a blue color, also a feature that made us feel like we were in a vintage NJ Diner! The art deco signage in the front was also very nice! On the walls were plenty of family photos and certificates/pictures from the community, and it gave the place a very home-like feeling, it was warm and inviting for sure. Atmosphere would get a 5/5 from me!
Would definitely recommend this diner as a place to stop and get good food for great prices for the area with a classic NJ Diner feeling where you will be treated nicely by staff. Seems like a great spot to chat with...
Read moreIt was was our first time in Westfield . My wife and I really enjoyed ourselves there. Vickys Has a really cool spot. My wife and I noticed the restaurant right away. They have a really cool throwback atmosphere inside and out. We thought it was really neat. The Hostess was really nice too, she was.sure to let us know of the specials available. My wife ordered a Broccoli omelette, and I ordered the pastrami and rye melt. I ordered the pastrami because I love how Jersey does pastrami on rye. It's one of my favorite things to get when I can. However the pastrami I got seemed to not be fried, my guess it was.microwaved, boiled, or just sat in something like a streno pan for a few hours. The pastrami was poorly seasoned. The rye was toasted in a toaster it seems, not on a flat top grill with oil or butter. The swiss was about 3/4 melted . The fries were not good enough on there own to eat without ketchup. My wife's omelette was soggy in the center and wasn't seasoned. I told my wife that I just felt like I ate a plate of disappointment. I was really looking forward to a great sandwich, ya know the ones where the sandwich is so melty, meaty and big that it's difficult to keep it all together? Yeah it wasn't the case here. It's probably a cool place to hang out for coffee and pie. I mean it is a neat place and the owners should be congratulated for how they keep the place up, especially the street side of the restaurant. The place just pops and glistens in the sun. But the food left me wanting to eat some where else just so I could wash the experience from memory. I think they can do better. I hope they do. A cool place like that deserves food that can be remembered for the right reasons. Please Vickys , do better! Id love...
Read moreMy mother in law and myself had the Vickies Super Deluxe Breakfast with a Belgian waffle, 2 eggs over easy, sausages/taylor ham & coffee. Really a great breakfast for the price. You will have to oder toast, bagel or roll separately though. I thought that should have been included. My wife had the Greek salad which was okay. She also had a side of cut fries which were delicious. The coffee is very good as well. Our server was nice to us, but she gave us our check while we were in the middle of eating. We had to ask to see the desert menu. She was not as attentive as we thought she could have been, considering we were their at 4:30 in the afternoon and there were only a few other tables. They had 2 servers on staff at the time. We love to eat there around October when they have the Pumpkin pancakes on the menu because they are totally awesome. We definitely recommend Vickies, especially for breakfast. I would have gave them 5 stars for the food, but because of the early check we received and the subpar greek salad my wife had while in the middle of our meal, I thought it was strange. The deserts are presented nicely but the chocolate frosting on the cake was too sweet, but the sponge part was baked well and fresh. You never know what goes on in other people's lives and I don't like to be even a little negative when it comes to the staff. We know everyone is doing the best that they can, especially during these times. We will still be going back there for breakfast or lunch at some point. I still gave the service 5 stars...
