Brisket vs. Tritip - The two heavyweight contenders in most (at least California based)BBQ establishments, that seemingly leave you having to make the choice, and come back to try another….unless you’re fortunate enough to either have the lovely other half that doesn’t stab your hand with a fork when you reach on their plate, or, the guys that buys both so that you don’t have to make 2 trips while leaving yourself wondering what’s what. Well, I did that for you. Plus, I have a mini panel of 3 random people that give their take and why in my visit. This includes the awesome employees of the spot, a close friend that I trust his actual developed pallet, and someone who had just had it passing on the street. All were pretty inclined to the Tri-tip except for one. Was this because most Californians just haven’t had REAL low and slow brisket? Was it because basically in California, tritip is basically the end all be all? I took these into consideration for sure, having had actual BBQ in all the staples of the US(not saying I’m a pro, but pretty damn close). After diving into a half of each, there seems to be, in my opinion, one slightly more robust contender here…. That’s the Tritip, actually. The smoke was apparent, the tenderness was in the right ballpark, and moisture was borderline, well, Bristket-like. (Ironic) Although the brisket IS very, very good, and I definitely wouldn’t kick it out of bed…the Tritip just seems to want and please you bit more and treat your tastebuds to breakfast the next morning. So yeah, come for the brisket if everyone is talking about it, it stay for the Tritip Sando and I know you won’t be let down. In a head to head they stand up pretty damn good, but one hits just a LITTLE harder. Furthermore, the restaurant is clean, welcoming, tasteful and a fun atmosphere with great sonic sounds of Cody Johnson and Chris Stapleton in the background, with great guys working the place like Dillon, who was knowledgeable and enthusiastic to have me in. For me, I’ll definitely be back. Thankfully, it gave me enough of a sense of how great the place is to where I’m excited to bring more people back to enjoy as well. Thank you 101BBQ HUT for the great experience and food. And if you’re into something a bit more involved in the dining experience, go visit the sister restaurant Tavern 101 that has always impressed me as well! Good job guys, you’re definitely bringing something around that was MUCH needed to a...

I was going to be in the area (Westlake Village) for work and was looking for the best place to get some great food. I searched google and the BBQ HUT came up first and I was excited to go to my work location to order the amazing looking food (from there website) . So, the next day I ordered 1 Cajun Salmon Salad and 1 Protein bowl with pulled pork (for my co-worker). THE FOOD IS NOT GOOD!!!! I looked at the reviews 2 days before I visited the restaurant and to say that I was disappointed is a understatement, and don't count on the pictures to give you a preview of the food. They pulled the old advertisement trick were you think you're getting a nice sized portion and you don't. (i.e. The quarter pounder is an 1/8 pound) The Salmon bowl had 4 1.5 inch pieces of Salmon that were dry and may have been cooked in the morning. My co-workers Protein bowl was less than subpar. The food was tasteless, and was badly in need of some flavor. Now, after driving 3 hour to my work location, then working 12 hours, then having to drive home in 4 hours of traffic, I'M STILL HURGRY!!!!!!! I hope WABA grill is still open! OH, I also bought a Brisket sandwich but didn't mention it because the bread was good. At least it was a...

We've been here a couple of times now and the BBQ is fantastic. By far the best in the Conejo Valley. Ranch Hand, Bandits, etc.... could learn a lot about making good BBQ from these guys. Everything we have tried so far has been fantastic with the best being the Prime Rib Sandwich. The meat is really tender and the peppers and sauce complement the prime rib fantastically. We have also tried the brisket sandwich, the pork belly sandwich and the bbq chopped salad with pulled pork. All are really good. The Mac and Cheese is actually really good Mac and Cheese and that is hard to find, at least in this area, these days. Highly recommend checking them out. They are hoping to get their liquor license soon, so looking forward to having a beer with all...

I am so disappointed, I was looking forward to trying the food from the BBQ Hut. First off, the staff was great, very clean. Once I received my food, I was so disappointed I bought the pulled pork bowel . First, when I tried it, I could not find any of the meat. The reason I went there was for the pulled pork. It was basically just a salad with no meat. When I did get a taste of the pulled pork, it was blan with absolutely no flavor .Then I bit into a bone, actually two, I realize that the cooks don't always get all the meat off the bone, and some bone can be in the food , that just brought more disappointment to my meal. So if you do go to the BBQ Hut, I don't recommend the pulled pork. I'm very disappointed.

This was terrible. Spent $100 for two pulled pork sandwiches, one side of fries and the brisket (which came with 2 sides). The photo doesn’t depict the level of gray tint the brisket had. My husband, reluctantly, took a bite and it was just as bad as it looked. The sides (beans and mashed potatoes), were not good. The pulled pork sandwiches were not good. The meat tasted old and my bun was soggy and looked either dirty or molding. In fact, everything tasted old. There’s no way the fries were cooked within the last several hours. We paid $100 and none of us could eat the food. Disappointing to say the least!
