Visited Birdys this morning for the first time. I love supporting local coffee shops and almost always have a good experience. Thought it would be cool and it seemed like they had some really great options. We walked in and ordered a nutty Irishman and s’mores latte. The drinks themselves were okay. A little sweet for my liking but I also like my coffee pretty strong and I didn’t request less sweetener so that is on me. However, the reason I’m giving this two stars is that they were incredibly rude, and not just to me. First when ordering my mom asked if the drink she wanted could be ordered iced. The barista responded with “yep anything with the ice symbol can be hot or cold… gotta pull out those elementary symbol reading skills!” Like… ok… I thought at first I just didn’t really get the joke. But nope. I actually think she was just rude! Like she kind of just implied that she was dumb. I have worked in customer service for 3 years. I can confirm that there are in fact dumb questions. Hers was not one! We were very kind to her too so she didn’t really have a reason to be mean. Then waiting in line I peeked around the counter because I heard a bit of heated discussion. A second person was trying to add a caramel drizzle on top because she didn’t think it looked good. The lady that took our orders practically yelled at her and ripped the bottle out of her hands. Like? Okay? I felt bad for her… no one should talk to their coworkers that way. It wasn’t just that she was rude to me because everyone has bad days. It was the entire situation. I liked the overall vibe and support of diversity and would have donated to their cause if they weren’t so rude! Honestly the only thing that didn’t make this totally not worth it was that the drinks were okay but WAY overpriced. It was almost 15 dollars for two lattes. The menu said about 5 dollars a drink… even with prices increasing that seems like a lot. I also think they were a different price then listed. I wouldn’t be back. I didn’t...
Read moreWe went to Birdies for the first time to have breakfast. We ordered a black bean burger on the pretzel roll and a breakfast sandwich wrap accompanied with some coffee.
The Good: The décor of Birdies has an eclectic character, charm and warmth and is very unique. The gourmet coffee was excellent.
The Bad: The food that was served was all processed food that I believe was cooked in a microwave or toaster oven as that was all that I saw in the kitchen. This was disappointing because we were expecting at least a few items to be homemade based off of what we read on their web page. The black bean burger was edible but the breakfast wrap tasted like it came out of a vending machine.
Summary: I think that Birdies is the real deal for espressos, cappuccinos and the like, and is a nice little retreat. But if you are thinking of getting a bite to eat,...
Read moreTried Birdies for the first time today…started with a Carmel latte that was so insanely sweet I had to exchange it for a black cold brew. I drink A LOT of coffee and am not a picky coffee drinker at all, however this was SO bad. And $8!! Then my bagel had mold on it…which I asked for a refund and nothing else to eat because ew… And to top it all off, When I was exchanging my coffee my 2 year old son walked around the corner while a worker was walking by with a plate of food and this woman acted as if it was the end of her world that he was walking around. As a SAHM, we love coffee shops/breweries/wineries because it is acceptable for the kids to not always be in a seat. I am very mindful that my kids are respectful but the way this lady acted was unreal. Don’t bring kids here unless you want to feel uncomfortable. I will never...
