We were recommended to try this place because “they have good bread”... that’s about the only thing they had going. I called in my order around 5:30pm on a Wednesday (so it was not minutes before closing or anything like that), and when I came inside to pickup my food, my presence was not acknowledged by any of the maybe 5 teenagers in the kitchen behind the counter. They all looked at me, and carried on discussing plans for later that evening. Eventually the waiter came up and rung up my food... I paid $70 for a large stuffed crust pizza (that had BARELY any cheese in the crust, just some sprinkled mozzarella), a large Stromboli, and 2 cannolis. I love supporting local businesses, and don’t mind the high-for-a-pizza-place price ... if the food is good. Unfortunately, I’ve never seen a greasier pizza in my entire life. I needed nearly half a roll of paper towels to soak up the grease, and it also leaked through the box. There was hardly any sauce at all, and crust was so thin (and soggy) it might as well have been a tortilla. The best part? I called the next day, during the day, to speak nicely with a manager about our first experience ever at Roberto’s... she basically dismissed everything I said, but acknowledged the teenagers not paying attention/acknowledging me. She did not offer to “make this better” in ANY sense. No “it might’ve been an inexperienced cook, usually it’s a lot better, I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience, how can we make this right? Etc”. This was our first (and last) trip to Roberto’s in...
Read moreGO TO ROBERTO'S AND LEAVE HAPPY! My husband and I select Roberto's as our first choice for carryout and for a quick, but not rushed eat-in lunch. They have the best subs in the Westminster, MD area. The bread is homemade, vegetables are clean and fresh, meat and cheese are plentiful, and they get special orders correct. We also love their Lasagna with meat sauce (also available with tomato sauce) and their side orders of meatballs or Italian sausage in their homemade meat sauce. They use the recipes from the original Italian owners. This business is family owned and operated, and the family speaks Flemish. The mother and another lady cook (YUM!) and can run the cash register when necessary. The mother speaks very little English. This explains the comments from a few people about the ladies behind the counter not being friendly. The front room staff are very outgoing and friendly. I'm very fond of the son, Gregory; he is kind and was supportive to me when I was ill and in a wheelchair. He continues to be a major reason we love Roberto's. He's also the reason I know so much about the family. A few years ago I asked Gregory why his restaurant wasn't nominated in the best subs category for awards presented annually by the local newspaper, based upon reader feedback. He'd never heard of the awards. I nominated the restaurant. They have won the "Best" every year except one since, and then they were given recognition as a close second. GO TO ROBERTO'S AND...
Read moreLiked their pizza so I decided to take my brother there for lunch. Walked in at 4 and there was no waitress on the floor so we walked to the check out counter (there was a line). Herd the guy say just have a seat and a waitress will come take your order. We sat down waited for 10 mins. During this time two more tables came in. When the waitress finally came out she attened to those tables first and by the time she came to us we were already there for about 15 min. I ordered the pizza special that ended at 4 pm and she took the order with no problem. 5 min later she walks back saying the special ended at 4. I explained that we were there at 4 and there was no waitress and that she decided to wait on customers who came in after us. She walked back and a older lady came out with the rudest attitude claiming that we werent here at 4 because she was the floor waitress at that time and that we werent sitting for 20 mins. Then she walked back in the kitchen. I sat there for another few mins waiting for my brother to return from "5 & below" before we left to go to Genova's across the street. If you want good pizza go to Genova's. Never going to Reberto's again. That lady needs an...
