I live very close so I’ve been here at least a dozen times. I always carry out, and I really like their tacos - usually order a mix of chicken and veggie. There were a few minor service issues before the pandemic started, but nothing to make me stop visiting.
Since the pandemic, service has been more disappointing. I usually see masks missing in the kitchen or below the nose, orders have taken twice as long to prepare, and the staff attitudes are sometimes shockingly aggressive.
On my last visit, I decided to order via doordash and pickup, to cut down on the wait time. Doordash told me that my order would be ready at 6:45, about 40 minutes after ordering (Saturday at dinner time), so I didn’t leave my house quickly. I looked at my phone 15 minutes later, and found a message that my order was ready 5 minutes ago, so I hopped in my car and sped over. It was busy when I got there, so I waited for a waitress running orders to be available and told her the situation - it had now been 15 minutes since my order was ready, although the original estimate was still in the future. I told her my name and she checked the warming cabinet for to go orders, half heartedly is the most generous way I can describe it, and came back out, didn’t look at me and said, “you’ll have to get in line”, and then turned her back on me. Now 20 minutes since my food was ready, I have to stand three customers deep in line - to order. :| I stood in line, and told them the situation when I made I it to the front, now 30+ minutes since the food was ready. They found my order. Needless to say, by the time I got home my 3 tacos were mushy, barely warm, and disappointing. If the doordash estimates were more accurate and if the waitress would have just made a minimal effort to find my order, it would’ve been fine.
I want to love this place, but it’s so disappointing that the service is so...
Read moreCinco De Mayo 2020, ordered $40 of food and included a $10 delivery tip, 3.5 hours before the requested delivery time. During these times, we have been supporting restaurants (and drivers) because it feels less isolating and it is important so they will be there when this blows over. Super appreciative of delivery services and restaurants who are trying to remain open and working. I always liked Standard Market due to their freshness and vegetarian-friendliness. Stumbled upon the Tacos and Margaritas joint 5/5/20 so I was excited to try there taco-themed cuisine. Fifteen minutes before my order was due to arrive, Grubhub emailed and texted that the restaurant cancelled with no explanation. The canned response was 'they were not taking orders or they are closed'. They close at 9 pm everyday. I spoke to a staff member at the restaurant just prior to sending my online order, received a confirmation of receipt and an ETA for delivery. Most frustrating and disappointing that they were not prepared on a 'holiday' for which this style of food is desired and during a time when take-out and delivery is the norm. There was and still has not been communication from Standard Tacos and Margaritas, no apology, consolation credit to encourage placing an order at another time. Nada. Grubhub on the other hand has reached out several times in email and text apologizing for the inconvenience. It really messed up the evening since other like restaurants were already bogged down with heavy ordering and it was 7pm when we had to regroup and figure a new plan for dinner. I really thought ordering 3.5 hours ahead of time was sufficient. Standard Tacos and Margaritas has set a new 'standard' for...
Read moreWe ordered the steak burrito bowl, 2 chicken tacos, Elote, chips with guacamole and with salsa.
I chose delivery (which should have had a long wait time, due to distance & food prep), but that was not the case. I received a text less than 10 minutes after I ordered that a driver is on the way. Hmm. There were no utensils or napkins. The chicken tacos were dry. The large slices of what appeared to be red onions were overkill. The burrito bowl was cold and appeared pre-made. The steak was dry & the rice was hard & not cooked thoroughly. The chips were oily and my son spit the salsa out of his mouth (he loves salsa) which surprised me. He said “that’s not salsa & it’s very spicy”). The Elote was definitely not the “street” food I remembered buying from a street cart. The corn tastes like it came from an expired can. The flavor was minimal & cold. We were very...
