I Have a Bean — Restaurant in Wheaton

Wish I could give them 6 stars. The best people roasting some the finest coffees in the world. Their customer care is amazing. Since I live in town they deliver my coffee to my front door for a dollar. Really! Considering that a bag of their coffee is a full 16 oz. pound compared to the 10 to 12 oz. bag you'd get from Starbucks or the grocery store, their pricing is very reasonable and the product is so much fresher and better. A bag of Starbucks may have been roasted months ago. This coffee is roasted daily to order with the roasting date and your name hand etched on the bag. The coffee is carefully selected from the top 2% of the world's coffees and Pete knows his stuff when it comes to selecting and roasting great beans. This is a mission focused business. Their growers and coops often benefit some social cause. The staff is largely comprised of ex-offenders. Pete is commited to breaking the cycle of resivitism in our corrections system and offers a level of care, coaching and support that the State of Illinois falls sadly short in delivering. So, here's the thing: I don't like coffee. But I was hosting my cousins over Thanksgiving, so I asked them ahead of time what I should have in the house for their arrival. This was their answer: "We are heavily addicted to coffee so just a heads up so nobody gets hurt 😆."

I figured I'd better get this one right to avoid any holiday bloodshed 😬🤣, and that's when I remembered that whenever my sister and her husband stay with me, my brother-in-law ALWAYS goes to I Have a Bean for his coffee in the morning.

So I called up the store, confessed my coffee ignorance, mentioned that my guests had said they generally use a mild roast breakfast blend, and asked for a recommendation. The staff member who helped me was terrific! By the time I got home that day, freshly ground coffee was waiting for me at the door.

And here's what happened: I opened the bags in my kitchen and was instantly knocked out by the intoxicating aroma. Remember, I DON'T EVEN LIKE COFFEE! By the time my guests arrived and brewed their first pot, I was drinking it right along with them! I got two kinds of coffee, and the Honduran was our favorite. I never thought I would write the words "coffee" and "favorite" in the same sentence, but it was...

I heard about them from a colleague of mine since I was looking for some place near me that roasted fresh coffee beans. Turns out, they are a 2 min. drive from where I work. It couldn't have worked out any better and now I can take it to work or home and share it with everyone. I ordered my coffee beans flawlessly through their website and had my coffee beans roasted and ready for pick-up the next morning since I ordered it late in the afternoon the day before.

The coffee taste amazing! Have never had such an amazing brew. Some people say it's just coffee, I say it's an art. You get such a smooth cup of coffee without sacrificing flavor. I will definitely be making my future coffee purchases here from now on.
