Very dissatisfied. Called and asked about return policy of new and resell vinyl, was buying records as a gift and didnt know if they would be a flop or not. Explained that situatuon and was told, new returns unopened within a time period, was ok, opened or resell vinyl would be treated as if you brought them in to sell. Nephew's birthday comes around, two days later, he was happy. Two weeks after that, admitted he wasnt intrested in vinyl. Went one week later, a total of 4 weeks, and was told no return on new unopened vinyl because he was sure "what condition it had been kept it" even when told it was in house for a month, and we asked about returns before buying and he NEVER TOLD US THIS WOULD BE A PROBLEM. Keep in mind, we were returning 2 of the new unopened records and NONE of the opened resell ones or the 45s, Still said no. Whatever ur policy is fine, but don't hide it or lie about how you feel about returns to your store, especially when SPECIFICALLY asked about and being told the date of the birthday and that return policy would effect our decision to buy. Next I'll go to major chain store atleast they will be upfront about returns.
EDIT: AS I STATED ABOVE, YOUR "CLEARLY STATING YOUR RETURN POLICY" WAS TELLING MY MOTHER AND I THAT AS LONG AS THE RECORDS WERE UNOPENED AND IN GOOD CONDITION THE NEW ONES, WHICH WERE PRICED HIGHER THAN HALF PRICED BOOKS, THEY COULD BE RETURNED. WHICH THE 2 ALBUMS MY MOTHER BROUGHT TO YOU WERE. YOU NEVER SAID, UNOPENED, IN GOOD CONDITION, AND AT MY PERSONAL DISCRETION IF I WILL TAKE IT BACK. AND YOU DIDNT CARE 4 WEEKS LATER WHEN MY ELDERLY MOTHER CAME TO YOU TO RETURN AND HELP, BUT NOW YOU HAVE A BAD REVIEW AND YOU ACT LIKE YOU CARE. YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN SO EAGER TO HELP WHEN MY MOM WAS INFRONT OF YOU. THIS IS COMING FROM A 25YR RETAIL MANAGEMENT ALLUM INCLUDING 10YRS IN NORDSTROM COSMETICS. I NEVER HAD A CUSTOMER COMPLAINT. EVEN IF IT WAS A RETURN...
Read moreI've been going to Mile Long Records now for over a year and a half now. It's located in downtown Wheaton and remains one of the main reasons I go to downtown. Mile Long is clean, well-organized, and has an excellent selection of vinyl to choose from with section for new and reissued, used, jazz, blues, budget, etc. However, what sets Mile Long apart from other record shops I've been to is the service and dedication they have to their customers. Mike, the owner, and his family are incredibly welcoming, helpful, and kind. There is no question that you can ask that Mike won't attempt to answer to the best of his ability, and he's always looking to help you find what you're looking for. The personal touch that Mile Long provides is second to none and it keeps me coming back on a regular basis. As an avid vinyl collector, this is the local store that you dream of having. They take extra care to sell only the best used vinyl. I've also had a couple of instances where new, sealed vinyl from the distributor was warped to the point of unplayable. Both times, Mike graciously worked to find a better copy. I can't say enough good things about Mile Long. I can only hope that they remain a staple of the downtown Wheaton area for many, many...
Read moreGreat experience; today was my first time into a record store as a vinyl shopper. I got a TT for Xmas from a loved one and I was excited to pick up every Radiohead vinyl I could lay my hands on. The store is super cool, pretty much everything is how you would want it, good tunes playing, nice lighting and display, relaxed atmosphere and great selection. Once I found everything i was looking for, which was easy to do, I talked with the owner for about 15. He gave me a crash course on TT & vinyls. He warned me of all the problems I was going to run into with the All In One TT I was given. He was cool though and not pressing for an upsell. When I got home, I put In Rainbows on my TT and noticed, just as the owner warned, the huge 12 inch vinyl was to much for the small platter to handle. (It was like spinning plates, pun intended.) So I pulled out the biz card I got from Mike and gave him a ring, he offered to look into different options he would recommend to get me up and running without breaking the bank. We emailed for a while and figured out a plan. By the end of the week I'll be all set and Mike @ Mile Long Records has a new...
