A very disappointing experience. I ordered a 12 pound bone in prime grade roast and requested that the meat portion be separated from the bone and tied back onto the bone, a standard practice at better butchers, such as Caseys in Naperville. I picked up the roast and took it home. Upon unpacking it the meat portion was not separated from the bone and tied back. For $300.00 this is a completely unacceptable performance. This Failure I will never forget and I will never attend this meat market again. This was my first experience with the Wheaton Meat market and will be my last. They just do not follow through on the customers request. In deed I ordered this for pick up a week ahead of time so they had enough time to fulfill the request. If they do not have the ability to perform an expert butcher task, they have no place being in business. I could have gotten a better experience at Costco easily for 50% less. I cannot recommend this market for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWheaton Meat Co. is one of the best Butcher Shops out there. I grew up a few blocks away, and the quality of their meats remains as good as I remember it from childhood thanksgivings.
For my 30th birthday, I ordered a Wagyu Ribeye Roast from Wheaton Meat Co. It wasn't cheap, naturally, but it was possibly the best beef I've ever tasted.
An unsung but wonderful aspect of WMC is their advice. I've walked in asking for thoughts on seasoning or advice on how long a particular cut can sit in my fridge, and the guys at Wheaton Meat Co. not only have what I need, but have helpful advice on how to make the most of their products.
I especially recommend Wheaton Meat Co for special occasions. I've made many a Wellington with their excellent tenderloins and while they certainly aren't winning any bargain price awards, they're almost always a bit cheaper than Whole Foods with a much wider selection and much higher quality. I cannot recommend Wheaton Meat Co...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBuyer beware! I saw all the great reviews on this meat market and I go to the Wheaton Farmers Market down the street almost every weekend. I decided to try it. I knew something was off when the butcher never offered to show me the cuts of meat or told me the weight before wrapping the meat and charging me. I saw the two red ones on the top in the case and thought....wow! These are amazingly fresh. What I didnāt know was that the guy behind the counter was going to give me meat that was about to turn. The two gray cuts actually smell. Come on people. You work with meat. You knew it wasnāt up to snuff and you sold it anyways. SHAME ON YOU!!!!! What a waste of money and an annoyance to have to go buy more meat for my Sunday...
