Wow! The food at Nostimo is absolutely delicious! Hubs and I wanted something different for lunch and quick at the same time. We wanted sit down, but nothing too heavy.
Walking in we are welcomed with Greek music, staff that is smiling, and a relaxed atmosphere. You place your order at the far end of the restaurant which is so smart. There's plenty of room to stand while you wait to order and for the people waiting for their orders to be ready for take out, they don't have to weave thru a line of people waiting to order when they have their food (did that make sense?). The menu is on a well light screen and a nice large font (perfect for an oldie like me who needs cheaters while wearing my contacts)! The menu isn't lengthy, but there is just about something for everyone. The woman taking our order was so friendly and welcoming! We had saganaki fritters which is the flaming cheese without the flame, but in nice sized round balls. It was so ooey gooey and tasted just like saganaki! Hubs had the Grecian Beef Souvlaki and I ordered the side of Chicken Kalamakia. The beef souvlaki is filet mignon on skewers! Sooooo tender and flavorful! My chicken was cooked perfect and juicy! Let me pause here and tell you about the pita that came with our proteins - WOW! This is not your typical pita! It's soft, fluffy, with a nice tender chew and had so much flavor on its own! I could sit and eat several of them on their own with their tangy, fresh tzatziki sauce! Last we finished the meal with an order of loukoumades. It comes with a choice of thyme honey (which I'm used to eating loukoumades with) or Nutella... tough choice right?! The lovely woman taking our order helped me out by throwing in a side of Nutella so I can try it both ways! These little warm, melty balls of dough are SOOOOO delicious! They were the perfect end to our lunch! OH ... and Nutella -wowza! Definitely a win for anyone loving chocolate and hazelnut (like me)! The woman taking our order came by our table and asked if we wanted the loukoumades with our food or a bit after our food was ready. That's incredible service (!!!) and we opted for a bit after. She said she'd let the kitchen know to hold the dessert for a bit.
Everything we had was cooked perfectly and tasted like I was visiting a Greek neighbor's house for their home cooked food! Completely forgot to take pics of the food before devouring it all. The ambiance was relaxed and welcoming. The service was so friendly! This will be in our rotation for sure and I can't wait to try more items from the...
Read moreWe had an excellent meal here. It is "fast-casual," so the atmosphere honestly does not match the quality of the food. The food really is a high quality that you'd expect from a traditional sit-down restaurant. You go up to the counter and order off of a big-screen menu on the wall. There is a large seating area that is nicely decorated, but big and open. They will bring the food to your table and also clear your dishes (but you don't have an actual waiter). They have all the traditional greek items like roasted chicken, lamb chops, kebabs. I think they sometimes have things like pastitsio as a special but it wasn't available on the Sunday evening we were there. I had the Nostimo Bowl. It was fantastic! It is listed under salads but it is not a salad. It's more like a Greek version of a Chipotle bowl. It is served hot: rice pilaf topped with roasted peppers, roasted broccoli and fresh tomatoes, topped with a delicious creamy lemon sauce and crumbled feta. The portion was enormous! I ate until I was stuffed and still took over half of it home. I ordered a side of beef & lamb gyro meat (they also have pork gyro meat as an option) and that came with fresh tzatziki and pita, so basically a whole gyro sandwich. My friend had the full gyro platter with Greek fries and a soft drink. The total for two of us was $48, which is a little pricy if you are expecting "fast-casual" prices, but again, the portions are very large and the food was so delicious that I feel it was definitely worth it. Also, the deserts look wonderful but we were pretty full, so we passed on those. I would get the fresh loukimades (fried dough with honey) or Baklava with ice...
Read moreI found this restaurant randomly while I was bored, but I was quite impressed by the quality of the food. :D
I got the Crispy Calamari, Chicken Souvlaki, Beef and Lamb Gyro Mix, and the Athenian Bifteki with Lemon Pilaf Rice. The coating on the calamari was crispy (of course) and light, and the lemon aioli sauce it came with was very rich and flavorful. The chicken souvlaki was not dry at all and very tender. The mustard sauce complimented the chicken well, the other fillings were plentiful and worked in harmony with each other to make the dish super flavorful, and the pita was amazing---soft and pillowy, but slightly chewy. The beef and lamb gyro was juicy and tender, and the portions and pita quality were about the same as the Chicken Souvlaki. The bifteki portion was a lot more generous than expected lol, but the quality was consistent. The bifteki were juicy and tender. I could taste the mint and other herbs and aromatics they made it with. :) The rice was fluffy and even quite flavorful (which I didn't expect), complimenting the bifteki.
At the time I ate there, they also gave us free baklava, so that was nice! :D
Overall, Nostimo's food was very tasty and fresh, and the service was pleasant as well. The restaurant's interior was beautiful and the space was quite open, which I liked. I'll definitely be...
