Red Brick Station — Restaurant in White Marsh

I Have been coming to Red Brick Station for many many years, but tonight was probably my last. I came in for Happy hour with a friend. Requested to sit outside since it was a gorgeous evening and the fireplaces were on. Upon arrival and being seated outside no one was on the portion of the patio where we sat, until about 10-15 min later and people dressed in costume as well as their dogs came out to the patio for “Yappy Hour” which was said to have been advertised but we didn’t see it anywhere on the website. Moving on….some of the people with dogs requested the fireplace to be turned off and subsequently it was. Now after a few min we asked could it be turned back on since 1. It was on when we arrived and 2. That’s the reason we wanted to sit on the patio in the first place. The waitress states she can’t turn it back on because the dog owning patrons requested it off. My friend and I made it clear we were here before any pooches arrived. The waitress went back and fourth to the manager poor thing was ant a loss for words and stuck in the middle until we finally asked to have the manager come out directly. She literally told us we could move (wow) we again explained why we came here, why we sat outside AND we were here first before anyone and any dogs. She again repeated “I’m happy to move you to the other end and turn the fireplace on for you over there but it’s yappy hour an event for dogs and we have to accommodate everyone” how does this make any sense we were here first PERIOD and there was no advertisement of said event anywhere posted. We will not return very poor customer service for tonight’s manager on duty Ashley. I run 4 businesses personally and this was a horrible experience as a long time customer. What a disappointment!!! And I can't stress "disappointment!!!" enough. Rated at "4.1 by 163 reviewers", food wise, this to me could not have been further from the truth.

My wife and I ordered two (2) entrees, the Bison Burger and the Billy's Three Pint Pasta. Let's start with Billy's Three Pint Pasta, if you washed away the sauce, all you would be left with is bland pasta, shrimp, chicken, sausage and a bunch of what seem to be canned/frozen vegetables. I managed to eat less than a quarter of what was presented to me and that was more than enough to turn me off to this dish. Maybe this was a decent dish when Billy first created it, but no longer. If they were trying to achieve what use to be horrible British food they succeeded. As for my wife's burger, it was prepared fairly decently, but the fries came out lukewarm at best.

The hostess and wait staff were very polite and welcoming. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Probably sensing our displeasure with the level of food, the waiter could not resist peeking at the tip left to him before we exited our table. Suggestion, be patient, the tip is what it is. There's no changing it. For us, a tip should be commensurate to the level of service, not on the food. You tip the food by returning to the establishment. We will not!

My theory of this establishment's ratings stems from their history as stated on their website, on the back of their menu and as you enter the establishment - "We have designed and built RBS to be a place where people will want to dine and socialize often." I think their patrons are so busy socializing with drink and discussion that they lose sight of what should be the core enticement to visit this...

I met my husband here after work on a Wednesday evening for dinner and we had a beer flight (4 kinds for $6 - great value), the French onion soup, the Wed night Steak special (great value), and the beer battered chicken tenders. Overall, I would label the entire visit as unoffensive. Red brick is a very large venue but it wasn't too loud - we could talk at a normal volume. The beers we happened to choose all tasted fine but didn't scream 'amazing' for us (but we're not keen on super hoppy or sour stuff anyway). The french onion soup was okay (not authentic) a bit on the sweet side and didn't have a bug hunk of French bread in it, rather an oversized crouton. The steak dinner was good value - the cut was actually a thick inch slice cooked to the right temp (medium rare), but it wasn't seasoned. The chicken tenders were huge breast pieces (good value) but bland/unseasoned. The batter had some flavor but may have been old oil-fried or had a bit of a fish smell? I just wasn't keen on it. Maybe we just chose the wrong entrees, I don't know. All this considered, the only thing that was really frustrating and disappointing was our server. I arrived before my husband, and beyond my drink, the server never came back to inquire if I wanted anything (20 minutes!). And the same super slow service lasted through the night. She also was unable to articulate what beers were available or remember what was out or not. We had to ask specifically about specials, she didn't volunteer them.
