Meddys — Restaurant in Wichita

We went to Meddys on maize Road. This is my first time at this location. The line in front of us moved quickly and our order was taken by a very friendly and informative staff member. We were directed to a bar near the back to place our wine order. Just seconds after being seated, we were brought bread and olive oil (meddys is worth going just to for this). The decor is fabulous here. The feeling is like stepping back to the Mediterranean. Most of the ceiling is decorated with hanging plants and greenery. The back portion of the restaurant feels as if you’re sitting under a pergola. It’s fabulous!

We ordered standard Mediterranean… a fattoush salad with salmon and humous. Again, it wasn’t just good… It was fabulous.

From beginning to end, wait staff was attentive, polite and respectfully keeping their distance. When wine glasses came close to the bottom, they were there to ask if we wanted a refill. Checked on us 2 to 3 times to be certain we were satisfied or if we needed anything . Great experience.

Ordered take out so can't rate atmosphere. Food is mildly over priced but mediorcre at best. Ordered the beef main plate. The veggies were great however the meat is of the lowest quality, chewy full of gristle etc. Biggest complaint is the POS system is designed to trick most people into tipping when you are not obligated to tip. If you don't know what buttons to push it, the card reader will display several tip suggestions, you have to push other to avoid the tip. When I dine in, I tip. When I order take out I will not tip. I showed several take out customers behind me how to circumvent the tip option. In turn the counter dude made me wait for my food beyond a reasonal time. He's not doing anything to earn a tip but became visibly angry. If anything take out tips should be forwarded to the cooks! People who came in after me were given their food while I waited. I have been a regular at Meddy’s for quite some time. Took my girls to eat for lunch. I used the bathroom which was a complete mess. Trash all over and the sink was in the verge of overflowing. I told Matt the bartender who was really great and immediately cleaned it. I ordered the Garlicky chicken which I have many times. I ate the chicken breast which was fine but when I pulled apart the chicken drum the meat was pink and blood was running out of it. Matt the bartender picked up my plate and I informed him about it. He agreed that it was acceptable. He came back with a dessert and a $30 gift card. Which was a nice gesture but what really bothered me is the General Manager didn’t have the decency to come apologize for serving raw chicken of all things.
