The concert itself (Backstreet Boys) was incredible. However there are a few problems I had with this venue.
When I bought the concert tickets, it did not say ANYWHERE that your bag needs to be extremely small. We got held up at security because my clutch was "too big" and I needed to pay to rent a locker. Ridiculous. My bag literally could only fit my phone, a lip gloss and my keys. I bought the tickets through their website, not a third party. This policy should have been made very clear and it was not.
Parking is a NIGHTMARE. We found a $20 lot a few blocks away. However, there are no parking lot attendants after the concert is over. Meaning that trying to leave the parking lot took literally OVER AN HOUR because there is no stoplight at that lot, and when thousands of other people are leaving, nobody is going to let you sneak out.
We drove 1.5 hours to get to Wichita for this event. The concert started over an hour late. If you're going to have a concert on a random Tuesday night when people work the next morning (and have travel time to boot), schedule the show for an earlier time and have parking attendants to help people be able to leave in an orderly fashion.
For an event center this big, they should have better parking solutions. And better security communication on their online ticket...
Read moreVery disappointed after going to a family kid friendly event with the lack of options for mothers. My husband had to work so I went solo with my children 2 1/2 and 10mo old. I saw the policy of clear bags, no strollers or wagons which I understood. I took my tushbaby which straps around my waist and has a small seat support for moms carrying babies on their hips and was stopped by security and told I could not bring it in. I explained it’s no different than a full front body baby carrier which they allow and that there were no items in it and they were free to search it. They declined and said it wasn’t allowed. During this exchange people are coming through with clear tote bags not getting searched or even glanced at honestly. Several women staff members stopped me and said that Intrust owners clearly have no children and aren’t mothers because anyone that was would realize how difficult it is to attend an event solo with young children and not be allowed to bring in anything that helps assist taking care of them in a safe manner. I understand no strollers, wagons, even diaper bags but to not be allowed a hip support that’s sole function is for carrying support is ridiculous. Will not be attending any family events again until this...
Read moreAs a building code enforcement officer, it's well built. First, the design of the seating in the arena area allows you to fully see the stage from just about any direction. An excellent design for any light show experience! The path of travel is convenient, as the aisles are wide; more than the minimum requirements. The emergency escape routes, signage and location out of the structure, again more than the minimum requirements. Easy access to food vendors, very large restrooms, and private suite boxes. There is a wide variety of quality food and alcohol, with the prices being typically in this type of atmosphere. The parking is great! if you can get here early. Other than that, not so good when you have to park a quarter mile away. Overall, the Arena personnel are very courteous and professional. If you remove some of the department heads because of their insecure arrogance, and poor leadership abilities, would set the bar in any manual. The security, also professional, but lack some experience with regard to conflict or confrontation. It's never easy anyway. More conflict training by the right people, and hiring the proper personnel would fix that in no time. Love the place! It's great family...
