XY Bar — Restaurant in Wichita

XY is a gay club and the place to be on Friday nights (generally DJ Bowtie, who plays a wonderfully eclectic mix of dance music from the 80s to now) and Saturday nights (generally more EDM-style dance music). The dance floor is big and frequently gets busy. It can get packed and occasionally there is a line, but I have only ever stood in line for 10-15 minutes at max during the busiest parts of the weekend nights. I have never been when there was a cover charge, though occasionally there is an option to check your jacket for a dollar just to the left of the door.

The staff is amazing here! I have never had a bad experience with any of them. Bartenders are liberal with the alcohol, so be mindful if you're a lightweight. Side note: If you start a tab, they will return your card to you immediately. Make sure you tab out at the end of the night!

The people who come are very respectful and friendly here, the atmosphere top notch! Everyone is there for a good time and I've not yet been put in any kind of uncomfortable situation there. It feels very safe, which I would not say about most bars in town. People are trustworthy. I've set my bag down in booths with strangers and never lost a penny.

It does have a patio area for you who smoke or want a breath of air. I believe I recall seeing an oversized Jenga-set at times. There are a few video games and a pool table, too.

Bathrooms (at least the female bathroom anyway) are well-lit. The women's bathroom has a handicap stall. They keep it pretty clean, even at the busiest times.

Just like everywhere else on the strip, free parking can be found within walking distance in the parking garages or parking lots around the area. It is on a brick and cobble surfaced street, so do be careful if you're wearing heels. The building is...

Lgbtq bar or not, I have never been to a bar where there is no women’s restroom. Only having a men’s and then a gender neutral bathroom is ridiculous. I was here Saturday night, going to the bathroom with my mom. She held the door on the inside with me, since most of the stalls don’t lock. A man came into the bathroom claiming he worked there and he was just off the clock, and started harassing the people in stalls, telling everyone to get the f out and pulling on stall doors. When I got out of using the bathroom I approached him and asked why he was doing that and asked to talk to his supervisor since like I said he was not on the clock and not dressed like any of the other security. When he took me to another security person they started to get really aggressive and said they sent him in the bathroom and that I needed to worry about myself. Then he kicked me out, which I left willingly and waited for my mom and boyfriend to come out. They would not let him close his tab and told him they would add a 20% tip on it when they closed it. When I got out to the front I asked the male bouncer outside why I was being kicked out and he defended me! Then the guy who initially kicked me out came outside and started screaming like a maniac about how we needed to just leave and shouted at my boyfriend not to touch him, when my boyfriend was not even close to him or anything. I’m not gonna lie I love going to xy I am so sorry I hate to do this but we were there having a good time love it there and everything! Here what happened as soon as I get there I got trash can drink right away and my friend got something else too right and enjoyed our time and everything I love it, and About 30 minutes later came to the bar and get another drink which is 6 shots of green tea with another trash can drink right, total of $60 something $ and I did tiped as well. Here the sad part is : another 30 minutes after that about 1 am at this point me and my partner and my friend are leaving and we needed water we came to the bar as soon as our turn to order I asked” hi can get 3 water please🙏 he said to me ‘’ NO “ i didn’t serve you anything ‘’ I

I have no words to say I have nothing else to say at all but sadness in my eyes i thinking in my head what did I do wrong the last drink i ordered was from him i wasn’t rude at all i just didn’t understand why ?
