First Impressions As I first walked in the decor of the place was nice, and the temperature was normal. Although the fish tank they had the Parrot fish in BADLY needed to be cleaned. I could tell the tank had not been cleaned in at least 4 to 6 months and the water was very stagnant, green, and you could tell they have an algae problem... It was roughly 11:15 AM right around lunch time and there were only a few guests.
Service: The overall service was excellent. They kept a close eye on our table. One thing that always annoys me is that it feels like they are trying to rush you out the door. We were only there eating for 20 minutes and they already gave us our ticket and fortune cookies. Not sure if its just a way to keep track of their guests who haven't paid and who have. Our drinks stayed full, and our plates were gone when we came back to the table.
There is always a woman in the back somewhat yelling her head off in a foreign language to her workers. Its not very enjoyable because you will be trying to enjoy your meal and hear yelling in the kitchen and dishes clashing like the dishwashers are having a Battle Royale.
The first food Items I choose were the basic breaded cooked chicken. Spicy Chicken - Very bland and wasn't very spicy just peppered - 2/5 General Tso's - Very good not too greasy and the spices were blended well 5/5 Honey Chicken - Not made with honey but instead a sweet and sour sauce, still tasty. 3/5 Pepper Chicken - Not spicy, just bland 2/5 Baked Lemon Salmon 5/5 FANTASTIC
Fried Rice - Very good nothing extra needed. If you wanted to salt it up some Soy Sauce would work well, but otherwise very good and not overcook and hot 5/5 Lo Mein Noodles - Very normal not spiced so it was kind of bland and cook neutrally 3/5
HIBACHI GRILL: Not exactly sure what was going on but everything was backwards the way it was setup. The veggies, onions, broccoli, carrots, etc were all as you started the buffet and then worked your way to the noodles and meats. The meats you could tell weren't quite thawed out yet from being in the freezer. They do have a wide variety of sauces on the grill including oil, Mongolian sauce, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, hot sauce, and garlic sauce. The cook was immediate to warming up the grill and took my plate right off the bat. It only took about 5 minutes or so to cook my food. When I returned to the table I found that the beef was extremely dry and chewy which was a major let down. The pork and the chicken however were juice and very good. Everything was very well cooked I just think they are using an extremely cheap beef and need to take it off the menu if they can't keep the quality to par.
SALAD BAR: So the salad bar isn't your traditional Country Kitchen Salad Bar. Yes it has lettuce, dressings, shredded cheese, sunflower seeds etc. It also has, clams, sushi, pineapples, and many dessert items. Small pieces of cakes and other Asian types of foods.
My Number 1 COMPLAINT is that the lettuce is chopped way to big or thick. I find myself tearing the lettuce up and the salad bar just so I have security know I can fit it in my mouth.
My Second Complaint about the salad bar is that they do not serve Broccoli during Dinner but they do during Lunch so I find myself going over to the broccoli and beef section and taking piece of cooked broccoli and adding it to my salad.
The biggest Pro to this restaurant is their Sushi, Crab Legs (dinner only), and crawdads. You can load your plate up full of either of those food items and much away for hours while reading your favorite novel. The sushi is the best although I will say I haven't tried other sushi from other restaurants but will say that I have NEVER gotten sick from this restaurant, and I attend at least once every other month.
If you say there is nothing on the buffet, then its because your a vegetarian, you simply have no taste buds, or perhaps even blind.
CONS: Some waitress's watch you like a hawk and almost...

if i'm gonna pay 26 american, U.S. doubloons for my meal, i AT LEAST expect it to be relatively good. but alas, dear friends, that was not the case. i ate about 10 different items: pickled radish, egg drop soup, chicken on a stick, sushi, egg rolls, to name a few. out of those 10 items, the most impressive were the egg rolls and the oranges. yes, you read that correctly. only two (2) items were worth praising. and one of them is naturally occurring and requires zero preparation. everything else was either overcooked (ie mushy or dry as the sahara desert) or bland. every. single. item. the fried rice was beyond hard. the egg drop soup tasted like the heated-up essence of the IDEA of an egg. my buddy's hawaiian pork was nothing but fat, and i'm pretty sure the chicken-on-a-stick lacerated my esophagus on it's way down. and to make matters worse, THERE ARE BARELY ANY SAUCE OPTIONS! NONE! ZILICH!
how are you gonna give me tasteless, sahara desert-level food and not even consider providing multiple tasty lubricants to dunk them in? soy sauce and sriracha were the only options. it would have been nice to be provided with spicy mayo, duck sauce, sweet and sour sauce or SOMETHING. ANYTHING to negate the chances of me having "â ď¸ by dry ahh chicken" on my " đ certificate. i'm 23.7% sure they were trying to unalive me, y'all. it was incredibly hard to finish a plate. i'm fully aware that this makes me sound like i'm a picky eater. the primary pain point is that the amount of money paid for the food does KNAWT equate to the quality of said food. i'm a taurus for crying outloud. if there's two things i don't play about it's banknotes and comestibles âźď¸
i was hoping the dessert would be my respite. naturally, i was sorely mistaken. i got chocolate pudding and jello. the ice cream was calling my name, but i lack toes and tolerance and didn't want my stomach sounding like the intro to rack city, so i was responsible (today) and left it where it was. my friend got the cheesecake, tirimusu, pudding, and ice cream. the jello was delicious. she enjoyed the ice cream. neither of us could eat the pudding--it tasted kind of....sour? and she took a few bites of both the cheesecake and tirimusu & had to give it a rest. she said the tirimusu had too much cream (pause) & the cheesecake was mediocre.
when the server came back to ring us up, she stood over our shoulders looking down on us like GOD while we selected her tip. like baby...you can back up a little bit. please. despite the mediocre food, i made sure to leave her a good tip. everyone deserves to be paid fairly and she did a great job at taking away my (mostly full) plates when i got up to try something new.
hyperbole aside, this trip was wildly disappointing. seeing positive reviews from big social media accounts gave me falsely high expectations. i advise that you go to their other restaurant, kpot, that's in the mall. the food there is incredible and worth every penny. maybe this place just needs a little more time to work the kinks/their recipes out. in the meantime, you can go somewhere else. you're not...

Food is still typical Chinese buffet, nothing special. flavor has improved on some items, (chicken on a stick was dry, fried rice very BLAND) but yes sauces, yes sauce for pot stickers, not sure about hot mustard, yes extra sauce for sushi. did not fall apart this time but rice was dry, unpleasant texture. Need to label all food items, very little of sushi are labeled. Wife said man making sushi was pleasant and told her what was what, I did not experience the same courtesy, so yes LABELS would be appreciated. Plates and glasses were CLEAN! Price was still high for what we experienced. With tip $65 for two people. No roast duck this time which I was sad about, perhaps only on certain nights or removed from menu? Seafood selection was better, yes octopus, not sure about squid, yes shrimp, muscles and mud bugs. Did have some crab (soft shell?) Also dungeness? not my favorite, lot of work for low yield. They need to go with Snow crab legs in my opinion, also don't be afraid to use some old bay seasoning. No issue getting run over by staff as it only hit maybe half capacity in the hour and a half we were there 5:30pm to 7pm-ish. NOW FOR THE UNACCEPTABLE: After about 30 to 40 minutes the waiter brought us our check, no problem with that but as soon as I touched it here comes the waiter with his scanner in my face. I said no, I would pay when we were done (suddenly his English wasn't so good as he continued to point at his scanner and stare at me). I repeated when we were done and he finally went away. a short while later I took out my wallet to get CASH out and here he came again shoving the damned scanner in my face. I proceeded to pay cash for our meal since apparently his world was going to implode if I waited till we were done with our meal. Then I got the pleasure of having him give me the evil eye because I suspect he didn't like the tip I left. For those who are unaware you don't tip at a buffet like it's a sit down full service restaurant. 2 to 3 dollars per person, no more than 20 for a large party is appropriate. Google it if you don't believe me. Anyhow, The whole check out thing ruined what was an acceptable experience. The manager Rob had asked me to let him know when we were coming and I chose not to, in fact made sure it was a night he would not be there as I wanted the true experience. Also now if you are reading this Rob what things you still need to address. Will we return, I doubt it, I'm $140 into a highly disappointing first meal and mediocre second. But never say...
