It was a sad day for my family as we returned to our favorite Wildwood dinner spot and found how much the quality of the food had changed. The place that we ALWAYS recommended to others has now become a place we recommend you avoid. Our waitress was very nice, but obviously overworked. She couldn’t remember requests until the third time asked and she ended up messing up our order to the tune of an additional $30. (I won’t even get into this since the kitchen manager corrected our bill due to the waitress’s error). The food is the biggest disappointment: 1. Fish and chips - the fish was over cooked, dry, and stringy. The side of asparagus was hard and inedible. The garlic mashed potatoes were nothing like the garlicky deliciousness of the past. 2. The Buffalo Chop Chop Salad - no leafy green lettuce like before, the chicken was fatty, overcooked (seemed like microwaved Tyson tenders), hard, and minuscule amounts of Buffalo sauce. There was a lot of blue cheese and that was all you could taste. It used to have awesome chicken with lots of Buffalo to go with the blue cheese. This was always a favorite. No longer. 3. The kids Mac and cheese was forever my sons favorite of any restaurant’s. He never complains. He surprisingly wasn’t even excited for his usual. 4. Buffalo tenders with fries - the same issue as the chicken in the salad. Definitely not something I would say was worth $12, especially since it couldn’t be finished due to the poor quality. The kitchen manager, Dana, came to speak to us regarding our issues. We couldn’t believe her nonchalant attitude regarding the poor quality. She claimed the fish is cooked on a timer and therefore we were wrong about it being overcooked. She refused to accept that there was anything wrong with the food. Thankfully there are plenty of other good restaurants in Wildwood. We are just sad to lose our go to place.

We showed up with a party of 15, so we expected to wait a while. We were told 45 minutes but it was only about 30. Not bad for a Sunday night. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. I didn’t get her name kinda hectic. They put us all the way in the back by the restroom hallway. water was dripping off of the vents above the kids head during the entire meal. When the server came to take our order we asked for separate checks and we were told that they could only separate it into two separate checks. Doesn’t make any sense. Not accommodating at all. So they separated it into 4 in one check and 11 on another day. That makes zero sense. My future son in law and father in law ordered fish and chips with coleslaw and the server came back and stated that they were out of coleslaw. On a Sunday. Odd. My father in law was sitting by the kitchen door and we was asked to stop moving his chair because it was moving the carpet into the kitchen. If that is an issue, maybe you shouldn’t put customers in that location. They did finally bring bread to the tables and one basket didn’t have any butter and the other basket had butter but it they were spoiled or something because they had a foul odor and bad taste. The food was mediocre. Everyone gave the same response. Extremely pricey menu. Will not go back.

Hey if you’re at a place that has these 3 things on the menu: flatbreads, burgers, sushi, you’re at a modern Friday’s. It’s all mediocre, as was this place. Take a look at our sorry take home midnight snacks. The crab cake is a hockey puck and the tuna I asked to be blackened on top of my salad was barely browned. Shame shame. My first drink was a dirty grey goose martini and that hit. But my next cocktail, a Paloma, had no booze in it. Were they trying to test me or cutting me off already? Who knows but my server was nowhere to be found for 7 minutes so I brought the drink back to the bar and said I asked for a Paloma and this is not one and I handed it to them. Then I got one with tequila in it, finally. That’s sloppy service. The only redeeming factor about this place is that the music playlist , which was entirety 80s new wave, was so on point I had to ask who’s playlist it was. And I met that barkeep. And I only wish his establishment was as good as his tunes. It was all New Order, Joy Division, smiths, killing joke. Really good stuff. So if you are in Wildwood this summer and need some great music go here. Burgers so so but quite pricey. I’d say skip it u less you’ve got vacay monopoly to burn.

Sadly for me this place seems good but was one thing after another where just literally everything was a disappointment unfortunately. I'd still recommend others try it, there's plenty of stuff that looked great, it just didn't work out for me tonight is all. In order for future me's reference at least:

No coke, Pepsi place

Wasn't a fan of the lobster roll, it might as well have been a chicken salad roll imo, that's much closer to what it tasted like to me. I chalked it up to a preference for a clearly different type of lobster roll and tried asking for warm butter even though it's also not that type of roll either. It helped honestly but the butter I got was fairly humorous - literally just warmed slightly melty butter, not clarified even a little. Props for trying, it obviously wasn't their thing and I did appreciate the effort at least! Basically I just wouldn't order that again is all, plenty of other items looked really good and I regret not going for that artichoke crab pasta!

Also wasn't a fan of the house salad though, ranch here wasn't very good at all - tasted very much like bottled Kraft brand - which kinda killed that for me. So basically I didn't like any of my food unfortunately

Finally, and kinda weirdly, the waitress informed me at just about the weirdest time possible (after dropping off the bill, before tipping) that I wasn't allowed to have my canned drink in there (sparkling water, which was empty now). I felt bad for her - I'm sure she doesn't actually give a crap and management put her up to that, I still tipped normal but just thought it was odd. I'm not an idiot, I know I'm not supposed to have it, but y'all still took my money and I still chose to eat there with my water even though your unassisted drink options suck lol. Idk it was just funny to me. It's a nice place to sit, good vibes, definitely a weird music mix that goes all over the place, I don't really regret going, just would order different next time and maybe hide my water better at the...

I ordered pick up not knowing they would charge a $1.75 pick up fee who charges a pick up fee? I drive to the restaurant and they charge me a fee to come get it? Someone could have notified me over the phone that there would be an extra fee to pick up there wasn't one before even during covid when that's all that was available there wasn't a fee. These people act like you won't notice an extra fee added on even though you've picked up from there before want to act like it's always been there. Suppose they figure they can rip off tourists enough that they don't need any local business. No other business that I've picked up food from ever charged me extra a pick up fee until now want to ask Two Black Dogs or Vincenzo's if they charge a pick up fee? I already know they don't. I'll get food from them from now on prices are a lot more reasonable as well. So not only do they charge a pick up fee which is ridiculous to begin with, they charge a dollar each for sides of garlic mayonnaise and I didn't get either one. I've ordered multiple times before where they have charged extra for sides of sauce and I haven't received what I paid for this isn't the first time this happened. If anyone orders takeout from this place make sure you check your bags because they'll charge you for every little thing but won't give you what you ask for. Don't get french fries on the side of your sandwich either that's an extra $3.00. Nothing is worth the price at this place, the Mud Hen or Poppi's they're all under the same owner who looks for ways to rip you off. I won't spend at any of these...
