I used to frequent this Starbucks over the years but I won't do it anymore. One reason is that they are considered the least prioritized Starbucks in Wilkes-Barre so they run out of their items quickly and get restocks so slowly during the semesters when the students come back so they're constantly out of their drinks and sandwiches. Another reason is the fact that their staff seem incredibly burned out. I'm not sure if it's because they hire students who attend Wilkes or what the reason is, but their staff are not as friendly as they used to be. And then the last straw was what happened to me this week: Yesterday I purchased my usual Venti iced drink and a sandwich, and they charged me before checking to see if they have the ingredients in stock. They ran out of one of their key ingredients, chai, and I asked for some of their other non-coffee drinks, and they ran out of those ingredients as well. I finally asked if I could get a bottle of water, and they said sure no problem, but did not bother to tell me there is a significant price difference between a bottle of water and their Venti drinks. I didn't realize this until later when I checked online what their prices are--an ethical employee would have given me a refund for the price difference when I asked for the bottle of water, knowing that there is a difference in prices. So I come back today, they are still out of chai, and I asked if they could subtract the price difference from yesterday from the sandwich I ordered today and they said they couldn't do that. So they basically consider a really old fashioned system of bartering when they are out of stock for their drinks as a reasonable substitute when there are significant price differences between their drinks. Bottom line: don't bother coming here--there's another Starbucks in Wilkes Barre Township Marketplace that accepts the Starbucks app (ie you can receive award points for your purchases vs here you can't even use the app, period), gets restocked more frequently so you know they'll have your items, and they have friendlier and more ethical...
Read moreLet me tell you something… if you never had matcha before, DO NOT TRY HERE. You’ll have a bad experience! They don’t know how to make it! It just tastes disgusting. First I thought it maybe be that just one day and maybe a bad barista but jokes on me. I’ve let it passed and try again. AGAIN! Horrible. There is a lot of local coffee shops such as Coffee Garden, Abide and pour that makes it better. My favorite one Coffee Garden but it is a little far. Closest best...
Read moreThis is a great little coffee shop on Wilkes University campus where you can sit and chat, do school work, or just read a book. The selection of teas and coffees and everything in between is excellent, with seasonal drinks being popular with Wilkes students and people from the community alike. I have had a few of their seasonal drinks and every one was delicious. The staff are phenomonal in answering questions and making your drink in a...
