I have tried more than 50 South Asian restaurants in my time here in the States and this one is the worst so far. Here are several things worth noting for new customers: The waiter (Name: Aisha) mentioned that the restaurant charge a service charge of $15 as we entered. We appreciated the heads up, but we observed that as some locals entered the waiter took their order without mentioning about the service charge. Nothing about the service charge was written on the menu and it was added on to the bill seperately. I don't know if this was a scam for tourists. We tried several dishes (see the receipt): Chicken Seekh kebab had too much garlic Tandoori chicken was sour The ratio of chicken in the chicken biriyani was too less. We were a party of 7 and on our opinion the quality of the food was below average. There is one particular incident that really shocked us: We also ordered Chilli Chicken. On the menu it said that the dish is going to have bell peppers, herbs and spices in it. When we tasted it, it had so much tomato upto the point that it turned the whole flavor soury. Also to be noted that there weren't any peppers in the dish. We all gave it a try and none of us could go for a second bite. I complained to the waiter about it being too sour and not matching the description in the menu asked for it to be sent back she said that the menu has not been updated. When we placed the order for another dish, she nagged several times that "that's how American Indian restaurants cook Chilli chicken". We got our replacement (or so I thought) after another 20 minutes wait. When we went to pay the bill, to our surprise, we were asked to pay for the dish we sent back and also the replacement dish we ordered. This shocked us. We declined to pay for that item and paid for the rest and left.
In conclusion, I'd never go back to this restaurant even if they were paying for me to eat their food. I don't know how that have 4.5...
Read moreThe place inside is super lacking. They just took an empty building and threw some tables in it. No decor of any kind. No music. The bathrooms are out of the restaurant in a separate building...and they were locked. We were seated and handed the print out to go menus to use as our menu, instead of separate menus.
We love Indian, so our standards are high. This did not meet them at all. The Chana Masala was wrong. It was brown instead of the traditional red and did not taste good. The Pakora was good, however it was just onions. Normally Pakora is a mixture of numerous vegetables. The Samosas looked promising, however they were just super oily potato sacks. I couldn’t understand how they could look like they had so much seasoning but just tasted like potatoes. The chicken tikka masala looked right, but was a muted version of what it should have tasted like. The mango lassi was a cup of airy yogurt. It was not like a traditional mango lassi which is a thicker drink that tastes more like mango.
We requested tamarind to hide the flavor of the samosas and pakora and the waitress didn’t know what that was. But one of the guys in the back came out and asked us what we wanted and we received some...in styrofoam bowls. In addition, the young girl who was our server was making the mango lassi and a guy hollered our “food’s done.” She was occupied at that very moment, so then he decided it was a good idea to ding the bell over and over until she came to get the food from him. Super...
Read moreI'm confused about these reviews! Actually had to check several times if I was reviewing for the right place. My food looked absolutely nothing like these photos! Staying at the hospital with a sick relative now in ordered food from here via DoorDash. There were hardly any items available online through doordash so I chose the chicken tikka masala. It was watery and thin with oil floating on top and smelled super strongly of hot sauce. It tasted like a combination of canned tomato soup and red hot sauce. No seasoning or spices in it at all! There was not a bit of garam masala in it. Had the consistency of tomato soup when it's canned and heated up with water added to it. Not good! Wondering if I ordered something wrong or if something happened and they switched out my order in the car? The naan was ok and the rice was fine. The rice actually had a bit of cardamom scent (but not taste) to it. The garlic naan did taste like garlic because it has garlic flakes on it but otherwise dry and bland. I spend most of my time in NYC. Maybe I'm spoiled with Indian food? I've eaten Indian food in probably well over 100 cities and I've never experienced anything like this. The other photos in other people's reviews look pretty great. Mine looks NOTHING like the online photo....
