Boombalatti's Handcrafted Ice Cream — Restaurant in Wilmington

haven't been here in a couple years because of a past bad experience. just went to order a milkshake and the girl at the counter literally rolled her eyes and groaned. after that she made it with the wrong flavor! i got straight plain vanilla after requesting Cannoli, didnt even notice until i left. then she gave my girlfriend the two smallest ice cream scoops for a ridiculous price. would not recommend this place, Gelarto is a much better option if you are downtown. (also her long nails is a health code violation)

edit - thanks for the reply and refund but i 100% never asked for vanilla (absolutely never order plain vanilla) so i have no idea where you are fabricating that from. Also my girlfriend clearly heard me say Cannoli. maybe the girl at the counter didn't hear me because she literally moaned audibly after i said the word milkshake. but thanks for reassuring the fact that i will never spend money at your business again 😂

it is so obvious that I say cannoli in this video, it's ridiculous! as im staring right at it. please tell me how you heard Vanilla enunciated at all. You can clearly hear me say "can I just get cannoli flavor." The 'e' sound being very audible. you are laughable as a business owner tbh for trying to even argue that. Thanks for posting that video so I know I'm 100% in the right. you need some headphones...

If anyone knows me well at all, my ultimate weakness is ice cream. Boombalatti's is the place to enjoy homemade creaminess on a hot, summer day.

FOOD: Key Lime Pie Scoop - Light, crisp and refreshing ice cream that hits the spot. Boombalatti's ice cream isn't overpowered with sugar or artificial flavors and keeps it's consistency quite well in the heat. The lime flavor was subtle, offering sweet notes throughout and mixed with just the right amount of graham cracker crumble. Perfect. SCORE: 5 STARS!!

SERVICE: As we walked inside, I noticed that Boombalatti's practiced COVID-19-ERA standards to a "T". Only 1 customer / family were allowed inside at a time with a setup that adheres to social distancing regulations. Sanitizer was abundant, staff was wearing face masks, gloves and everything was clean. The representative was fantastic, friendly and did not hesitate to make suggestions based on the daily offerings. Exceeded my expectations! SCORE: 5 STARS!!

My husband and I visited Wilmington for a medical appointment. Afterwards I wanted an ice cream. After reading some local reviews, we found this little family run, homemade ice cream shop. What a delightful place!

First, the obvious... the ice cream was delicious! I tried strawberry and chocolate cream pie— yummy! If I lived closer I’d have to exercise a lot more.

Secondly, I’m crazy about a great, crispy waffle cone. He has just made some fresh ones and they ranked among the best (in my top 2) I’ve ever had!!!

Finally, the shop is clean with seating room inside, but the day was so lovely we chose to sit at one of the outside tables, and it was perfect.

The owner, Wes was super nice and since we were the only customers at that particular time, we took time to talk. He's a very nice young man, and I’m always happy to support local, family owned businesses!

So all in all, this is a “must try” place, and it’s on my list for a repeat visit wherever I return...
