Originally from Maryland, I was excited to hear that Ledo Pizza has a location in Wilmington. For those who don't know, Ledo was started in Adelphi, Maryland - near University of Maryland - College Park and have been known for their pizzas and subs.
Given that, it's been over twenty years since I had a Ledo sub. So, I was excited to try them again. So, I ordered their Ledo Steak and Cheese sub with mayonnaise and grilled onions, minus the lettuce and tomatoes. Needless to say, the sub was underwhelming. Gosh, there's more bread than the meat. 🤦🏼♂️.
It's isn't the sub that I remembered back in the day. It has changed to my disappointment. Bottom line: Very little meat and not enough flavor. The onions were not cooked all the way and they were diced. A life long connoisseur of Philly Cheesesteaks, that’s a no-no.
Maybe their subs is not in their real house anymore. Maybe it’s all about the pizza. Given that, I will try their pizza and post my comments later.
As a side note, the service (hostess/waitress) was good and the restaurant had nice ambiance to it - it shares the same...
Read moreA old time favorite! Grew up with this pizza place in Maryland and glad it is here now. I love the pastry style crust on the pizza, their thick pepperoni, salads, Stromboli and well everything. I don't understand some of the reviews. I mean I have been to many different Ledo's and rarely have an issue but you have to remember this is a restaurant. I don't know one that has not had a bad dish or bad service on occasion especially when first opening. It takes a long time to establish yourself and build your team. Everyone has to remember that most people do not give a good review when they have had a great experience, but they give a bad review when they have had a not so good experience. I do not live in Wilmington, yet but I do visit a lot. I love this place and am so glad they are here compared to some of the other cookie cutter pizza places out there. Or maybe that is where some of the bad reviews came from??? Don't know. But Ledo's is known for their great well priced food and great...
Read moreI'm from SOMD and whenever I go home I always stop in Ledo's to get some of my favorites. I was so excited to see this place opening in Wilmington and I was unfortunately very disappointed. The food came out still cold. The signature crust and dough for the calzones and pizza was not the same. Despite being pretty much the only customers service was slow. I will say they gave a few excuses as to why the food was not up to par and took a few things all the bill to try and make the situation better. I'll come back in a few months and give it a try again. I know the food is good, the Wilmington location just needs a chance to master the way...
